I pointed out some flaws also. Especially in the print review. And compared it a a lot with F90. Conclusion? F90 can be a track car, but less of a daily driver. The G90 the opposite.

In a very weird way, it almost would have made it better just to be an all out EV... the interior is already EV like w screens all over, the sound isn't that great and then you get the penalty of weight by both ICE and electric. The argument made in one video was that some people track their M5s and ICE is better for that... i really would want to speak to the person who tracks a 5500 lb car... and if they are on here lol? Conversely, if they made an all ICE car at 700 HP, it would have made a lot of folks happy, you would have had a much lighter car and it would be far more dynamic... ultimately, i think what would happen there is there would have been the ultimate performance EV comparisons where it could get spankedv(even in some cases by an I5 M60)... i think their hands were very tied here and we got a somewhat subpar product in 2024.
It was supposed to be a continuation of the funny intro where you show fast the car is. To do that, in the time we had, the environment, the 0-60 seemed appropriate. If you watch the video, about 20 min of it it's just about driving on backroads. In total, I drove the car about 450 km that day, mostly thru backroads. And in some rain also

Do you think it is faster from 100 to 200 then the previous M5 comp or cs
So far it did not see a 1/4 mile trap speed to compare
I am asking to see if it will be any faster then my M8
Thank you for the great review

what car doesn't drive well on the backroads? technically an xm can be hustled there... a chevy suburban wouldnt feel good on the backroads maybe... its ultimately all about feel...

even me who doesn't like ev's has to ask does this car accomplish its mission better than a model s plaid lol which is way cheaper?

It be very subjective of me to state that without driving them back to back on the same surface also. I will try to do it soon.

I appreciate it, very nice of you.

I drove the XM on backroads, a lot actually. Def not as good. But I talked about the feel in the video also, a lot actually. It's a long video so I don't expect everyone to sit through the boring details of it As much as I wanna make them shorter and funnier, I end up going all geeky on the details

I am sorry, had not seen yours yet. Just read it though, and thoroughly enjoyed it by the way, well done. It does seem that your view is the general consensus.

The new G90 M5 is a more liveable refined car, while the F90 is more of a focused sports cars.

I am not sure, where this puts the G90 M5 for me. I have to drive it to see.

As always, every customer should drive the car before buying. Reviews should be a starting point to get some different views or to look at things you might overlook yourself, but in the end, it's your money, it's your style, it's your driving abilities and more, that will dictate the car you want. Or need. If I look at the reviews posted online, in many ways, they are similar, but also quite different in other ways because we all have our own bias - nothing to do with being paid or being banned - but rather what we enjoy in our cars.

Yeah it’s a head scratcher to me, too, that they made this a hybrid and added all this weight on for….like 40 miles on range? Either make it all gas or an EV.

Wondering why bmw didn't just go electric? compare it with an M60, but why? What if it was simply a farewell and a tribute to the 4.4 V8 that will surely disappear one day!
Complaining about weight all the time, when most people haven't even tried it yet... If you're going to go on the racetrack, get an M3 or M2!

Thank God they didn't. The car would have flopped. Way too early for an M5 EV.

I think it's kinda cool that you can run local errands on all electric and avoid putting a heat cycle on your powertrain. Pretty compelling package for a 1 car garage. Main competition is the M3

^^Exactly. I for one don't want full EV but could use the benefit of the M5 being able to drive in full EV mode for all of my local kid runs.

I wouldn't even consider it if it was full EV and Bmw knows thats now what the market is heading towards. If you want full EV get the i5. There is a reason why that exists.

The M5 takes the benefits from the best ICE it offers with the benefits of EV without most of the negatives associated with owning a full electric car (range anxiety, long charging times, weak charging infrastructure). The only downside is increased weight which all reviews so far says its a non issue for the use case this car was made for. People complain for the sake of complaining. Imagine if the M5 was 1,000lbs lighter but now its comes with a turbo 4 cylinder engine. The car would flop just like the C63 did but at least it satisfies all the weight weenies out there right?

right but making it 4500 lbs w a mild hybrid setup and the engine making 680 hp or so would have been absurd, right?

people say emissions and regulation... and I for one don't believe bmw sells enough m5s to throw the entire brands average far off... this car wont get good efficiency either way

Does any other brand make such a car at the moment? (Genuinely curious)

Check out the Porsche Panamera Turbo S plug in hybrid. Similar specs but faster for >$200K.

That’s a big price delta. That M5 plus M2 /M3 money and C&D list that car weight at about 5300 lbs.

Audi RS6 and RS7 Performance were technically also competitors as well albeit they have 630 hp but at 600 lbs less weight. That being said... i've driven those and as much as anyone praises them, they are not that great again due to that offensive weight.
