skipping the boring ones...
'82 Corvette L82 - was not a high point for American manufacturing '84 Merc 190E 2.3 - red w/5-speed, surprisingly sporty at the time '85 Mustang GT 5.0 - a better musclecar than the 'vette, but not as fun as: '85 Toyota MR2 - a blast to drive, manual steering, then it got stolen '91 Toyota MR2 - torquier, more mature, less fun. Needed practicality, got: '92 325is - 1st Bimmer, loved it, but everything went bad on it '01 325Ci - more sophisticated, less passionate, lots of small problems '01 Z3 2.5i - 1st ragtop, real fun, a bit crude in design, great drivetrain '06 Z4 3.0i - near-perfect, thought it would be my forever car, then I got old '11 128i vert - my 5th bimmer, it's exactly what I need, great overall balance By the way, the only slushbox in the group is the Vette, as the '82 had the new-for-'84 drivetrain, and they couldn't certify a stick that year. |

My first official car was a plastic pedal version of Knight Industries Two Thousand, or KITT to most of us.
Then my dad brought home a 1986 325 and I was hooked on BMW at an early age, though it wasn't my first car (1993 explorer 5-speed). All BMW/MINI since.

I had a Renault Super 5, it almost looked like this
or so I wish, but in fact it looked more like with a whooping 48hp, 4 gear manual. A real slug. Then got the Citroen Saxo, with the mighty 1.1L 58hp inline 4, now with 5 gears ! Car was unsafe with a strong tendency to lockup front wheels on even the mildest braking under the slightest rain. Ah, the good days of gen-1 low rolling resistance tires... Then I decided to get myself a luxury car, but because I was still broke, I had to tap the 70's. Got a 1974 504ti. 100hp RWD, seatbelts optional, no crumple zone, long suspension travel (designed to survive on colonial african roads), would reach happily 200km/h but with drum brakes from hell, got scared driving that coffin, but was enjoyable otherwise Then moved to the US and started getting German cars exclusively. Boring list from there, you all had the same type of things. Last edited by Meeni; 12-01-2012 at 11:25 AM.. |

2001 Opel Zafira: Age 18 was our family car, I started driving it when I got my licence and never gave it back was a small MPV 7 seater
2005 Opel Astra: my true first car, got it new. Only 110hp but has all the nice bells and whistles. bi-xenons, sport seats, panoromic roof etc. Really loved it. If it has more power it would be a nice hot hatch very good ahndling and steering feel. 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5i in2009: My first car in US. 164hp after 110hp, felt like rocket. AWD was amazing. Base model no options got bored. 2003 Bmw Z4 2.5i: My first Bimmer. Most fun car I ever had. Perfect for California weather. I thought I will keep it forever. Had to sell it to move. 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7: It is fast but only on a straight line. Most powerful car I ever had 330hp. Had difficult time on corners after Z4. 2013 328i F30

My favorite of all time. If someone totaled the car, I'd be upset. If someone totaled my truck, I'd be upset x 10...
