I though the ACR was always considered a more hardcore track car, basically a racecar for the street. Is that not that case with the new one. Is it now more civilized like the Z06?

It's hardcore, yes, very similar to the C7 Z06 with the Z07 package (which comes with R-compounds, massive aero, carbon brakes and stiffer suspension settings than the standard Z06). The ACR will also have massive aero, carbon brakes and stiffer suspension settings. Probably more power and different tires as well (we'll know for sure at the reveal). It's a direct competitor to the Z07 package. I see the ACR setting a lot of track records.

You've gotta love a Viper!
I think it might beat them anyway. The last time the ACR was released it set the Nurburgring production car record. This thing is going to be ridiculous.

Unsure about price. I'm guessing $120-$130k.

Oh I remember

Perhaps the best part was they only had a day to set it (vs months for competitors) and the driver was a seat Leon race driver or something. Nuts

If I remembered correctly the one I saw before had no air conditioning, no radio, and other creature comforts taken out.

Does the Z07 have a massive wing like the ACR. It just seems like it is couple steps further towards being more hardcore.

The one you saw before sounds like it was the special edition ACR "hardcore package" from the last generation, 2008-2010, that came without AC, radio, speakers, amplifier, trunk carpet, hood pad or tire-inflator.

This new ACR will have nav, harman kardon sound system, back up camera, A/C, etc. Look at the interior shot I posted. You can see the nav system and climate control and radio knobs. They are all in the exact same spot as in my TA.

The new ACR has more aggressive aero then the Z07 package. More downforce = faster lap times.

Concept, yeah, but I dont see that car making it to production. Dodge and SRT have way bigger problems then bringing out a limited car that will appeal to a very small group when they cant even sell 3 yr old cars sitting on lots without discounting them for $40k+ off MSRP.

the vipers performance stock is just ridiculous. Here is a time slip from one of my runs tonight in my 2014 Viper. This is a lot of car for the money.

The new price point has them selling extremely well now. 2015 models will be built on a as-ordered basis only, which will prevent anymore unsold cars, and make the Viper even rarer than before (something I really appreciate). The ACR you see above will be built and sold to buyers next year or in '16. Guys are already standing in line with cash in hand for this car on the Viper forums.

I went from a E92 M3 to 14 Cayman S to a new viper. I also own F10 M5. viper is definitely rough around the edges but that's the point. I am having the most fun with this than ever before.
Viper looks mean as hell in person, sounds better in person and no it doesn't sound like a truck. I think viper gets a lot of negative reviews because people are afraid of it.

I sold my M3 after a year, sold the Cayman after 6 months, I will definitely keep my viper much longer.

This car is misunderstood, but this guy gets it. http://www.roadandtrack.com/voices/T...?src=soc_fcbks

As a former z06 owner I would choose the gen v viper over the c7z all day long! It would also look much better behind my cummins ram

When I'm done playing with my 997 gt3, the viper is my first choice since the 991 gt3 is pdk only

Agreed with this. And hello from a fellow Cummins owner, just upgraded from a Dmax. 865lb/ft stock and a straight six to boot. I need that kind of power to tow my 2800lb track car on weekends

At least you've towed something!! I've had mine for a year and I've only hauled my dirtbikes to the dunes!! I need a trailer but I have nowhere to park it! And I refuse to pull my cars on a uhaul trailerðŸ˜

Congrats on moving up! Although that duramax/Allison is pretty damn quick.

It's my day off tomorrow, perhaps I'll be stopping by my dodge dealer to check out the viper, if I can find one around here. After all, if history repeats itself, when I had my z06 I had an avalanche to pull, and when I had my boss302 I had an f250 powerjoke.

With a 500+ hp GT350 coming out for 50K, a 600+ hp Corvette Z06 coming out for 80K, and a BMW M2 just around the corner...sorry, but I can't get myself to buy a Viper

I respect that. here's my thought process.

Mustang does not compare to corvette or viper as mustang is a pony car. it's a sports coupe.

corvette is a great American sports car and C7 is very nice.

Viper is an American exotic. exterior shell is all carbon fiber and aluminum. feels much more special than the corvette.

Is viper the fastest? nope, never has been. you can make mustang faster in a straight line. viper feels special while driving it. I took it to the mountains and the car was amazing in the curves. viper is hell of a car for the money.
