I caved in and bought one...though it was an iphone 8, 256gb unlocked. lol Space gray...gorgeous phone. Bought it with the SE so they'd both have 11.4.1 and I can switch between them. Honestly should have bought the SE last summer when it was still on 10.3.3. I've been reading the battery life on the 11 is shit and from what I've seen leaving it in airplane mode, so far it is. 8 is still too damn big.

so I have had the XSmax sitting on my counter in my kitchen for a week now and still have not set it up lol. I have sprint and I guess when you transfer from the 8+ to the Max you need a different sim card! so lame, went to order the sim card but all my stores are out of the one I need I guess. I told my phone lady to just switch me over to verizon so I dont have to deal with this. I am hoping to have this thing set up and using by tomorrow or wednesday.
so if your with sprint you may want to look into the "sim gate" that is going on with moving to the max got the 256gb unlocked space gray, looks sharp

So I was hoping that the XS would be my go to device for taking pictures on short trips/vacations. Went to NY for a few days this past weekend and noticed it doesn’t have that great of a camera. Nighttime pictures are noisy and daytime pictures are okay as long as the object is not moving (or you’re not moving). Also video quality could be better for such an expensive device. Deciding if I should return it and continue using my 6S.

Not at all. It's a simple software bug that impacts some older iPhones too. Will be fixed in a software update (probably shortly). Wireless charge has zero issues and even wired won't have an issue if you just tap the screen on and try again.

I get it for free thats why I am with sprint. Business plan been on there for 15 years but we also have verizon plans with some other business so Im having my phone lady switch me over, and yes sprint was not always the best but it was never too bad in my area where I live

Is anyone having issues getting used to the new device and the oS? I've scheduled a Genius Bar tutorial because getting used to this thing coming from the 6 comes with a steep learning curve.

And to say wireless charging has zero issues is a stretch, when the technology itself is flawed. Also how long does it take to charge that new iPhone again? |

I went to the ATT store during lunch to play with the new XS Max. It's a pretty nice phone and I will probably upgrade from my 8 Plus. I use the phone a lot and the extra screen is a plus.
I have to make a trip to Apple store to get it - I usually pay for the unlocked version. |

12.0.1 just addressed all charging issues because Apple actually supports their devices and fixes bugs. Stop, acting like Android phones have no bugs and are supported. I’ve owned them...night and day difference with Apple. Far, far better. |

When did i say anything about Android having zero issues? That's what you fanboys do, distract with nonsense. You think Apple fixing bugs is one of their fortes? They are in-fact notorious for avoiding issues and trying to sweep things under the rug, never giving out info, and IF it's an issue they decide is too bad to ignore, they'll fix it a couple of updates later. I've owned them to, I have an iPhone right now. I've worked in IT/Tech for a long time. I've repaired hundreds of iPhones and iPads. I never even said iPhones were bad phones, but they are boring as hell and Apple QA has been going down and down. If you even deny that you have some more reading to do. Android phones are just so much more fun. Everybody with an Apple phone literally has the same damn phone. It's so boring. Nothing fun about getting a new iPhone. Just my opinion. People act like their launching rockets with their handheld, they are all the same shit, and we do the same monotonous tasks on them all. |

I literally can't think of any phone feature more exciting than spontaneous combustion.

To be fair IOS 12 made my 8 run faster, but created other annoying bugs. My imessages show the same person listed twice, for example. Delete that one string of messages and it says the other string with the same name is "unknown". A reboot seems to fix it for a bit then it comes back.

Has anyone in this thread had a charging issue or other performance issue with THEIR actual phone?
I have the Xs Max and it's been great, just like every other iPhone I've had.

Like all the haters, you’re confusing isolated issues with poor QA. Their QA is AMAZING and I’m shocked there aren’t more issues with the volume of premium devices they ship. They support their devices when there are issues. The only XS issues now are some isolated LTE connectivity speed complaints, WiFi which was addressed, charging which was addressed and didn’t only impact XS, and some have complained the smoothing on the front camera is too aggressive. Again, Apple is high profile. You reading a story or reading 50 people on a forum say their LTE speed is worse than their iPhone does not make an international issue. I guarantee you if there was a hardware issue with the antennae, this issue could not and would not be “swept under the rug.” Apple is too high profile, too many people use their stuff, and their customers will complain until it’s resolved. These issues simply are not affecting enough users to matter on a large scale. Apple is an amazing company. You aren’t worth $1.1T without delighting your customers and crushing your competition. Get out of the weeds. |
