The real oxymoron is the one who cannot accept the GTR as the new king of the ring.......

A M3(a rebadged 3 series ) over a GTR ----

I haven't laughed so hard since Dwayne's World came out......

I would take an M3 over the GT-R because you cant get a real stick in the GT-R. I dont think its that funny. The GT-R is a sports car after all so offer the right trans. If it was a stick then I would take it over the M3. The manual trans in a car is THAT important to me in a car. The only not stick I would take is in a ferrari scuderia or most ferraris but not in the GT-R.

LOL exactly! i definitely do not stand by him with regard to the F1 comments...especially when McLaren-Mercedes and Ferrari are on top right now, with BMW nipping at their heels ...unfortunately both the Toyota teams are way off pace as usual, and Honda is doing even worse ...

...but everything else he said was true!

i wonder what porsche and the other exotic car manufacturers are doing right now to compete with the GT-R...its not like they can make anything faster right now, and they;'re not going to drop the price of their cars by $50-60k...i forsee the GT-R staying in #1 for 5+ years

and FYI, BMW is a joke compared to anything out there, they just cant compete

Compared to what? Other "sports luxury" cars? Buddy learn how to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges! Is the M3 supposed to compete with super cars? I don't think so. The M3 is seen as the best in its class, read about it and don't be a knob and start comparing cars that have no business being put side by side. I don't see many 4 doors out there that the e90 M3 "can't compete" with. At the end of the day to each his own and drive what suits you. Quit trying to deal with your insecurities about your choice by putting others down!

oops...my bad, i cited rankings based on the Driver's Championship. the above, however, is correct for the Constructor's Championship.

You guys really need to get over the oh no it doesnt have a manual transmission. Unfortunately it seems like the future of cars will be in DCT as the technology gets better and better. As of right now the DCT is capable of shifting faster than most humans unless your some sort of professional driver. So why wouldnt they put a DCT in whats suppose to be an all performance track car. At least its not an additonal $2000 option like it is for the M3 and most other super cars. I know if I were too track either the gtr or even the current gen M3 I'd go for the DCT.

However I would still drive a manual tranmission car as my daily driver just because its more fun and engaging.

This coming from the guy with the Honda Fit? I am not going to argue buying one or the other but how is the M3 a rebadged 3 series? I don't see any of the other 3 series with a V8 putting out 420 hp and not sharing any other components other than a similar body style, but hey maybe that's just me.

WTF is everbody crapping on about, if your not a performance buff of course you would pick a BMW 335/M3 over a GTR but if you are then you can't deny the GTR as a bang for your buck exotic killer. NUFF SAID! This thread should be locked.....stupid fanboys out trash a great performing car is just sheer stupidy as for this Sonics threads there so effing stupid. His IS-F VS BMW thread is a joke.

I was initially seriously considering the GTR, but now that it is out and actually drove my neighbor's I'll step back. First off, this is a huge car and (although subjective) I think it looks better in pictures. It can be driven daily and has a presence. However, I feel the presence felt by others on the road is more for its size than knowing what it actually is. Although it never felt like it had any lack of power / torque, I did feel a bit of the weight behind the wheels. I was also surprised to find that $75k+ markup that the weight of the hood was felt when I was expecting hydraulic hood props - no, it is a manual rod!

on the contrary, i wouldn't mind driving a car who's badge, prestige, and history is a mystery to most. after all, most people on the road are not motorsport (or even general automotive) enthusiasts. besides, i care more about what I think about the car i have to drive than what other people think about it.

as for the hood prop instead of hydraulic supports, think of it as a means of saving weight by Nissan
