Evan from CT/NY here. Currently have a Lotus Exige and Nissan Altima SE-R but will lose both for the 1-series (only have one spot, Lotus won't do as primary vehicle). I work in Finance in NYC and Stamford, CT. What else... My hobbies are cars and now reef aquariums. I'm 26 years old...
I'm on the waiting list for the 135i and it will be my first BMW and only because nothing they've put out until now really revved my engine. |

Just found this thread! I'm Ivan, and I came over here from motoringunderground.com when we saw that you guys had a thread pointing to theroyalwe's 1-series article.
I drive a 2004 MINI Cooper S in Indi Blue with a white roof, with a bunch of suspension and brake mods, and a few little engine goodies. It's tuned primarily for canyon driving, but it sees the occasional track day and (soon) autocross.

Hello all, Art here. I was looking into getting an e46 M3, but since hearing of rumors of the 1 Series coupe on mwerks.com in Jan/Feb I'm trying to decide between 135i and the Cooper S. I think the 135i will win.

Hello Everyone, I've Been looking at this site for the last week or two since I got my CAR & DRIVER mag w/ the article of the 1 series in it. I grew up around a lot of nice European cars thanks to my dad that was a mechanic & service manager for many years. I learned alot from my father always working on our cars together. Now I'm that person working on everyone's cars, well family & friends which doesn't pay very well but I can tell they greatly appreciate it.
I've always had chevys though, Classic Impalas & mid 90's BBodies, you know the ones w/ rwd & horsepower. I currently have a '94 Caprice Wagon w/ 300hp & 360lbs that I've had for about 8 yrs now. I talked my wife into a '02 VW GTI 1.8T for some turbo fun. Its been great but we're thinking about getting rid of it as it has 80k miles on it now. Now I just have to talk her into the new 135i. So it looks like the HP & TQ figures for the 135i are somewhat similar to my Caprice Wagon. That'll be very nice since the 1 series will weigh about 1700lbs less. My father-in-law has introduced me to the BMW feel since driving around his modded '86 535i, E36 M Coupe, & E46 M Vert. I don't like driving other cars now, well not as much. Sorry for the long intro... Justin |

Hello All, don't even know how I got here! Don't drive a car anymore. Saw the 1 Series specs and pics and it looks like a lot of fun. I like the idea of twin turbos, and REALLY like the idea of a diesel turbo! I look forward to the discussion and learning if BMW design characteristics are a good fit for what I want in my next vehicle.

Justin - good to see someone else that appreciates the last of the RWD Impalas (until next year that is ; -). I got a good buddy in Indy that uses the Buick Wagon version of that car (just ever so slightly modded of course) as his tow vehicle.
We expect great things of the 1er, otherwise there'll be a whole lot of disappointed folks on this forum!! Glad you're along for the ride!! - Hugo |

I have been reading for about a month now and figure I will start trying to add. I still haven't decided between the 128 and 135. My sensible side leans toward the 128 to save some $$ but my kid inside begs to get the 135. I think the 135 is truly going to be something special and I can trick my sensible side into thinking that IF I were ever to sell it there would be better resale value. This will be my first post college car (the altima cost 3k off my aunt) while I make plenty of money it is hard to convince myself to shell out 35k. I am hoping to get to do some test drives once the EURO versions are released this fall and will be at the Frankfurt Auto show. My mouth is watering.

I have been on these boards for a couple of weeks now. My plans are to get the new 135i (already on the list!) in Marchish and enjoy the car everyday. Black the hell out of it, slight engine work, loads of CF, and plenty of spirited drivng.
It will be my first BMW and ever since I called up the dealer the days go by too slow. Already contacted multiple manufacturers about certain things so I know there will be a lot to offer for this car that I can't wait for ![]() |

Hi. I like cars. I've been on a Subaru AWD kick for the last 7 years or so (STi ftw) and now I want to try something else. I've been researching new cars since about March when I first saw pics of the milquetoast '08 imprezas. As of now, I'm settled on the 135i.

I can't wait for th 135 to arrive. Last fall I was about to order a 335 but for some reason decided to hold off. Now I know why, the 1 Series is coming to NA. |

I've been on this forum for about a month now just cruising around but never joined. Well today is the day that I joined and am now on my 2nd post. I have an old 98 civic that I purchased right out of college just to get me around since my 88 325i convertible got totaled. Man did I love that car it was my H.S. graduation present from my parents. I just got a new job and I will be able to save some dough which is great and I have been looking at several cars like: 08 Accord coupe, Altima coupe, G37, 335 and now the 135. The 135 looks hot so far I really can't wait to see it in person. I plan on saving up a nice chunk of money until the spring/early summer to get something that I will truly like. I have always been a huge BMW fan since I first drove my 325 so I'm really pumped about the 135.

Hello all, I have been lurking here since I got the email from BMW announcing the 1 series launch in the US.
Currently behind the wheel of an 05 Legacy GT Limited 5MT, with some goodies installed. It is a fast car (12.8 @ 106, and no stranger to a curve), but I want something a little more upscale luxury wise, without sacrificing performance. |
