Pertaining to the "adding or removing part of the picture is not allowed", does that mean that you can't remove like a lamp post because it's in the way or does it mean that you can't even crop it at all?

Cool cool. I was thinking of changing my submission but the other one just looks like a regular pix and doesn't really show any "DOF" so nvm.

the "theme" is Depth of Field, not 'Small Depth of Field.'

most people just happen to be showing little/small/mininum depth of field instead of large/max depth of field.

which is fine but then ANY picture taken is applicable because every picture has some kind of DOF. I just think most people voting won't even bother looking for a good feature of DOF and instead just vote for "the coolest looking picture" and some of the great DOF shots will be left behind.

Technically, every photo has a depth of field...be it small with blurred backgrounds, medium with parts of the photo slightly out of focus and other parts in focus, or large where everything is in focus. I probably should have specified a certain depth (such as a shallow depth to see a lot of bokeh). I just figured leaving it open would allow for more submissions, which it did.

So any photo submitted that follows the general guidelines (correct size, no photochopping, etc.) falls under the DOF theme. I am interested to see what depth is most preferred amongst the forum during the voting. We got a lot of bokeh shots but not as many hyperfocal shots as I would have liked to see.

general and really broad themes are great and all, but i'd kind of like to see something specific and challenging next time. :]
