if we're going back to carrying over the balance to get to that ridiculous credit rating, I do agree. but by that point your APRs would be dropping anyways. I have lost ya I think.

ok so you charge $50 on it a month. while that's not bad, you basically have a credit line you don't use/get rewards with. you pay it off every month, but all you're doing is maintaining it without getting use out of it.

but it IS being used? Just not having a balance at the beginning of the next billing cycle? e.g. pay at the end of the month.

what other use is there?

i dunno...maybe it's just my preference. i really don't care about my credit rating, but i always carry over a small balance on everything just to keep everyone happy. but then again, all my revolving cards don't have a rate over 9%.

They won't lead to a loss of confidence by the bureaus, but they may lead to a loss of confidence by other lenders who are reviewing your report.

gotcha, I thought that's where you're going with this I kinda disagree, assuming of course you have a good rewards program...but I do see where you're coming from

use aka rewards. maybe it's just me, but i like to get something in return when i spend money. i buy my travel with the AA card, get double miles for it. i buy big things with amex, get virtually anything i want in return. never do shit with my visa signature, because it's my longest revolving line.

Discover? No. But a card issued by a known subprime lender like Orchard Bank? Yep.

this methodology will get you to the high 700s. getting beyond that is the planning aspect. Which is good that you're realizing it now.
