Not nearly as fun. We're in the sticks without the "typical" amenities. I'm on a well, septic, no paved roads - although we were able to get electricity and talked them into bringing fiber! As such, when we built the house we opted to run gravel/crusher run for the year to offer a nice base for concrete when the time came. That picture is of the parking pad area in the front courtyard area. It's about 50'x40'. Girls need a place to ride their bikes and scooters I'll be building a large barn/man cave at some point.

While they're here, I'm extending our back patio another 20' as well as a 12'x20' pad with footers to build a small barn with a lean-to to store some equipment.

Today is pour day. Wild how much work these guys can get knocked out. I'll have to grab some pictures here in a bit.

The bizarre property tax laws here revolve around concrete. We have a walk-out basement with a small concrete area out the back door. We get taxed on that "patio." I recently had the sidewalk beside my garage redone to widen and lengthen it, but I had to be careful how much area I added. If it got big enough to stick a table and chairs on it, it would have been assessed as another patio.

Holy cow! Nothing like that here. No one at the county even knows that I'm doing this, nor would they care. I remember when I was first purchasing the property, I sat down with the zoning folks to go over some options of what I was thinking to build. After I asked a few questions to make sure I wouldn't get in "trouble" with some of the things, the zoning director took me into his office and closed the door.

"Listen man, you don't want us in your business and we don't care to be in yours. That's why people live here. Just don't be an idiot and we'll be fine."

One of the zoning guys still reaches out now and again asking how the deer and turkey have been out our way...

I've been using the ancient L Shaped Allen or Star Wrenches forever. Saw a great deal on these and had to have them!
Socket Set makes short work of any building task.

So a BMW Theme Park is out of the question, I guess.

May even be welcomed! Will probably beat out some of the locals that tend to be home appliance enthusiasts given the amount of washing machines, fridges, whatever in their front yard

I am reminded of the Simpson's episode where Homer tried to steal all the grease from school cafeteria storage tank. Discovered by Groundskeeper Willie, Willie exclaimed, "Ach, my retirement grease".

Imagine what a large Pepsi would cost in THAT place! There would be a leasing program for a burger.
