The couple fired 76 rounds at officers during the shootout, and officers shot 380 rounds in return. Burguan said he believed the suspects shot first.

Look, this isn't really a controversial fact. More guns will mean more people killed by guns. More cars will mean more people killed by cars. More anvils falling out of the sky will mean more people killed by anvils falling out of the sky.

Our government is for the people, by the people. While that seems to be losing popularity, for the time being, nothing has changed because the majority don't want it changed.

As you should, which was my only point. Own that you have made the decision, own the consequences and stop expressing surprise when the inevitable and natural consequences of those decisions come to pass.

If I drink more I have to accept the consequence of being drunk more. If you have more guns you have to accept the consequence of more people dying by guns.

I'll take freedom over a nanny state false sense of security any day of the week and twice on Sunday. If you could magically make all guns and gun knowledge disappear from the earth, sure, i'll gladly give up my guns. But i'm pretty sure the people who perpetrate drug and gang violence will just resort knives, clubs, fists and feet. Which by the way, kill more people annually in the US than guns. Or maybe we'll just experience more random bombings like other european countries.


As C5driver stated, get to the root cause. In the mean time, some legislation that might actually make a difference in the over all statistics (which is what all the foreigners look at) would be harsh mandatory sentencing for crimes committed with a firearm, this may get criminals thinking twice about using a gun in a crime. Or in the places that already have mandatory sentencing, make some new legislation that removes the ability for prosecutors to waive mandatory sentencing. There is a lot to the violence problem in the US, it's much more complex than anyone gives it credit for. There are a lot of angles to attack it from. But limiting the rights of law abiding citizen isn't one of them. If the quantity of guns is the problem, everyone is the US would be dead. But the fact remains that every night in the US, 350,000,000 guns don't kill anyone.

Too much wrong here to really respond....(did you really mean to say that "If the quantity of guns is the problem, everyone is the US would be dead"?) Either way, you've told me you own and accept the consequences of your decision and that was my point. Some other day we can discuss your theory of criminal justice and whether your sky high incarceration rates affect your crime rate.

But, I agree a death is a death and I also believe that fewer deaths are better than more deaths. Since there are clear and easy ways to prevent gun deaths, one might think that pursuing those optiosn would be a positive.

Again, my only point is to say that those who oppose greater gun control have made a decision that preventing those deaths is not a thing worth pursuing. Your choice as a country to make, of course, but I would rather you (plural, not you specifically) own the choice and the consequences of that choice than expressing shock or surprise when the natural consequences of that choice occur (ie: another mass shooting) as they will happen again and again.

The shooters fired 78 rounds, and seemed to only hit the neighbor's house.

LEO fired 380 rounds, and only 2 went down, a third still raced off out of the SUV???? I guess that explains why so many were close by at SWAT training. . .

I think avg sportsman have about 5k rounds?
