Lol... I like horses but I've met around 10 girls who I can claim are "horse girls"... 10 out of 10 were batshit crazy. No stereotyping but there were no exceptions to this rule.

Shit, I wish I was rich. To me, being rich is having so much money I wouldn't even know what to do with it. I'm finally at 6 figures and going well into $150-170k in the next 5 years and that will be going into my late 30s. I think most people have already stated about being retired, married w/2 incomes, etc. For me even with the salary I have--most of it goes into maxing out my retirement every year ($19500) and also saving the rest as much as I can to invest it so that I will be living a comfortable life after retirement.

Been in the military for 16 years this year and I look back how life has already flown by. It's never too early to save and plan for retirement. Anyways, I digress--I'm not rich, but I saved up and worked my credit good enough to purchase my first M3.

Nah, it's not meant to be negative... just my personal experience that proved over and over... the so called "horse girl" would always prioritize the horse over any relationship... people just don't want to deal with that. Also most came from wealthy families and could never really keep a job, they just somehow always hung out around the horses.

Well, if you want a stable relationship get a horse

So can you blame her? I’d prioritize my girls over any guy also. I’m not married or engaged and they were here first. Horses will never break your heart. They may break your bones, but I’ve got 206 of those so I’m good.

Maybe I just understand them? I grew up in a small town, dated a few "horse girls" and worked on a farm myself. Most were just passionate about riding and their animals. Of course, there were always the crazy ones, but that's like anything else. The ones I dated were very hard working, I'm sure it's different between just a "country girl" and a girl who is given everything she wants, including a horse. I can tell you a girl in a bikini wearing a cowgirl hat and boots will definitely make your heart skip a little.

I think it's sad. The owner of the farm my wife boards at is super nice and seems like a caring person but no guys will date her. I feel terrible for her because shes always "joking" about how she wishes someone would fall for her. Horse women are passionate about their hobby but you'll never have to worry about their eyes wondering, they don't have enough time.

It was my wife's dream to have horses, we met in high school so I knew this from our start. Neither of us came from much so it feels great to be able to live our dreams. She's the hardest working woman I know and deserves every bit of what she has plus more. Horses 1st, not always, if it comes to it she always has my back no matter what and has proved it in the past. My wife has dropped horse shows she was looking forward multiple times to to co-drive with me at races even.

The best thing to come out of this thread is the term "horse girl". Thanks everyone, that's a keeper.

I'm also of the opinion that you don't "own" anything unless you possess the title. Many people are about keeping up with the Jones' and live in a mountain of debt to do so. Sure, there are some very wealthy people who like nice stuff, but most of the "actually" wealthy people, at least around here, are smart with their money. One of my clients is a multi-millionaire. He dresses casually and drives a 2000's Toyota Tundra, but he isn't a car enthusiast.
And then you still don't rally own it. if your car is paid for, quit paying for the registration, and you will eventually find out that you are in the hole for it again. Your house? quit paying the county property taxes, and you will soon learn that that house can quickly become the county's house.

Most millionaire's are not car enthusiasts nor fashion enthusiasts... they focused on making money and not really ever spending it... i kind of fail to see the point in that but it is what it is. If you make a lot of money, you should also spend it in my opinion not hog it... otherwise what's the point... you don't like nice things? OK, that's fine too.. then maybe find a hobby instead of working all the time... most Millionaire's don't have any of those boxes checked and die with money in their pockets... sad...

Careful, while I COMPLETELY agree with the logic (about homes) as it’s absolutely true, some on this forum will consider you a fanatic or label you for this kind of talk. Ask me how I know

Not really. I own my cars. I pay registration fees and insurance so that I can drive them on the road. Houses are different obviously, but for most other things like cars, boats, equipment, etc, when you have the title you own it.

To me, being rich is being financially stable enough that you don't have to worry about working. There is always someone who will have more money than you. I know people who will be working until they are 80 to pay for their lifestyle.

THIS! We just had one of our drives rebuilt. I'm so over one of our boats and want to get rid of it. My husbands currently redoing his 17' Key West that he's had since high school. Not fond of that little bath tub either.

If you're looking for a new hobby to gobble up every penny of your disposable income, may I suggest trading the boats for an airplane?

On the original topic, I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth, and don't have an ivy league education. Doesn't mean that my family didn't have a winter place in a private community in Florida, that may or may not have had its own air strip for residents.....

Living this "dream" right now with my sailboat I purchased in November. Since then, it's been non stop projects to be done on it. Next big bill is in a few weeks when I pay my slip/dock fees.
