Yup. It's like Leo DiCaprio and his girlfriends. He dates the 21 year old supermodels and dumps them for a younger one before they turn 24.

Here's the thing ...

If you're going to stop the back window from independently flopping up (which I care zero about) then why are are you not hiding the windshield wiper under the rear spoiler?

But no, you've integrated the design and technology from a 70s Volvo wagon.

And yes these things bother me.

Not being able to open up the back window is a pretty big miss on the whole utility aspect of a wagon. Not sure what they were thinking here.

As much as I love Tourings, it is a shame that an AMG S Class is much faster than this!

I believe they were thinking about saving money. The same can be said about so many decisions with this car and the new 5 series IMO.

This and how in the fuck does the glass roof not open!?!? To me, that is totally unacceptable. My brother had an RS6 from Turo the other week. Amazing car and with all the glass open up top, pure happiness. Total total fail on BMW if this is true

This M5 Touring in Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey or the Matte Black, lowered a little with aftermarket springs, and with 1000M gold wheels would look strikingly good. Anyone care to render? That would be my build, if I don’t opt for the RS6 Avant.

Agree. A shame to see so much cost cutting being done as of late.

I’m not as bothered about the glass roof not opening as I don’t open the sun roof on my vehicles all that much to begin with but I can definitely understand that it would bother people as it is a bit of a waste to have all that glass and not being able to open a portion of it.

The answer to me is simple, they were trying to save weight on an already heavy car. Another extra 100lbs maybe for mechanism and the roof?

Not sure what’s going on these days with their priorities, I bet there is a lot of tussle and politics within the teams making these decisions, can’t imagine all are happy and proud to have built feature-missing monsters.

I was referencing the fact that the glass on the rear door/hatch doesn’t open. No weight savings from skipping that feature, obviously.

I agree with this. It all goes back to minimizing taxes and penalties for carbon credits or lack thereof. The incentives are misguided because this car is definitely worse for the environment.

Do you know if it’s an eclipsing roof like the iXM60 where it can cloud at the touch of a button or does it have a mesh screen that scrolls out, or neither?

Rear glass not opening separately from the tailgate does not bother me. Honestly, I think it's better because it's less likely to leak or fail.

Also don't care about the roof not opening since I never open them anyway. Too damned hot where I live for that.

I do wish the carbon roof was available.

But, all this is moot since I think the RS6 is better anyway.

Yuck. Fat, slow, minuscule EV-only range and that god-awful Kia looking front end. Hard pass. Get f***ed BMW.

Seeing it from a distance with people and other cars around it really lets you understand the scale. It’s a big SUV.

The new G60 is enormous. The previous G30 was already gigantic.

It was obvious an M5 Touring (with the bigger arches, and more aggressive stance) was going to be massive. My gripe with it is on the powertrain and weight department.

I like the looks of the M5 Touring, not as good as the RS6 Avant (but that is pretty much the prettiest state ever, and one of the best looking cars of all time), but its definitely pretty, has some nice angles, and definitely has sex appeal over the Sedan.
