It's actually the other way around. Cruise is a small(er) guy (…5'6"-ish). Other movies use a little movie magic to make him appear larger than he is. Reacher is more true to size.

I was referring to Cruise vs. the real character in the books.

The fictional Jack Reacher is 6ft 5in with Cruise coming in at 5ft 6-7in as said, so author of book Lee Child has said they're looking for a new taller actor to play that role.Don't know if someone's been found yet.

I always like Tom Cruise movies. Don't care if he's short. He's great at getting the job done in a BIG way.

The whole scientology thing makes me look at him differently. But he's a good actor.

I never really care about their personal life. It's what they do on screen that matters to me. I would eliminate too many good actors if I worried about their politics, religion, etc. lol

Edit: unless of course they're serious bad guys that hurt kids or something like that. No way would I support them, then.

I agree with you here. Most actors/musicians are politically annoying. I would never watch or listen to anything if I focus on their personal lives. Lol! I feel the same way about athletes. Thankfully I'm not much into football/basketball/baseball/etc….and I'm more of a motorsports/MotoGP fan. The bike racers tend to keep a low profile so I hate them less.

Agreed - I was semi-pumped up for this movie, but yawning soon into it. Sad.

I like Tom too and don't care if he is short either........BUT.....if you have read a character like Reacher for many, many years like me and many of his fans and his entire draw is this huge menacing drifter that can use his size to intimidate people and right wrongs for weaker folks while usually looking disheveled with nothing but a travel toothbrush to his name......when you see a very short and diminutive actor with perfectly coffered hair - you cry foul immediately.

It's like having Tom Hanks play The Black Panther. He's a great actor - but he is NOT The Black Panther.

I always thought a young Ray Stevenson would have made a decent Reacher.

Understandable. Never read the Reacher books so didn't know he was supposed to be a big guy with messy hair, lol. Sounds like a miscast in that particular case.

Good fight scene and good movie. William Forsythe was great as Richie.

Here's the first movie I saw with Steven Seagal. Also stars Pam Grier, Sharon Stone, and Henry Silva. Saw it in the theater.

I wondered about this. Been seeing the trailer a lot on TV, wasn't sure. Will watch, when it's not so expensive.
