Thing is, it's already working for A LOT of people now, without all the stuff you're mentioning. The only valid point you might have is that it might or might not be worse for the environment. I couldn't give a shit less about the environment so i never do the research. Maybe you're right about that. Everything else, not really.

EV sales are on the rise. That's why more and more are being built. Models are turning into hybrid which would inevitably turn into full EV.

I agree with you on the environment, but that’s not what we are discussing here. I have also said that the only reason why they are building more EVs is because of mandates by governments. You don’t seem to have a problem with that but many of us on this thread do. Get world governments to back off, and EV’s would disappear into the night other than novelty fun and “proof Im woke” , EV’s like Tesla. I have told you in this thread and others that I like Elon musk and I like his company Tesla. I think the whole idea is cool and I love competition. I do think his current lineup of cars are ugly but that’s very subjective and I am obviously in the minority on this. I love the look of the G80 and most people here hate them. So there you go. What we are primarily discussing here is that the infrastructure and the practicality of electric vehicles does not favor good conditions for the consumer in the near future. Those things could change rapidly with better charging times, less than five minutes, and or chargers everywhere a car could park. But as I said before, and I’ll keep saying it, none of this would be a discussion if this technology wasn’t being legislated.

Brother, I bet that’s already happening. I suspect the smart people who own electric vehicles only use them to commute to work and can charge them every night when they get home. I can see a very good use for them today under those conditions.

Again i am not disagreeing with all that. I even said it months and months ago it's not right the government is "forcing" this upon us. I said it should transition into it. You can search my posts and find that i said this.

I do get a kick out of watching you guys get mad though about this. That i'll admit lol. But again i love ICE just as much as you. But i also love EV. It WILL get better is all i'm saying.

Think about it this way. Do you know how difficult it is to just "dump" that much energy into the battery pack of an EV in 5 minutes? You don't just introduce that much energy into a battery like that. That's why you precondition the battery before a charge on a cold day/night. There is so much to it that just plugging into a car and wanting it to be done in 5 minutes. Again we will get there soon enough. You guys can't just want this now or claim it a failure. Look at how far EV has come in the past 5-10 years.

Or in simple terms, how come you charge your iphone or android from 20-100% or even 20-80% in 5 minutes? And that's just using your standard house outlet into a small battery pack in a phone.

Btw the model s is tesla's best looking car. Not a fan of the X although i would probably pick that over the Y. The model 3 is a fun little toy.

But how do you know though if you don't have a tesla?

You're not visiting these stations to conclude to that.

I don't even visit a supercharger often since my GF has level 2 at her house. I never ever encounter any rage at a supercharger. Maybe in cali because it's so congested there and everyone has a tesla. By me, all i get are waves from other tesla drivers.

It's all different mang. I know you hate this but give it time.

I understand battery charging and its limitations. That doesn’t mean they can’t improve upon that significantly in the near future. They had better otherwise, all of this is a moot point. It’s essential they figure that out.

You’re absolutely right. I don’t know. It’s just that common sense tells me this is probably a huge problem. It’s not really a problem for those people who have chargers at their house and an ICE car for longer trips. However, people who live in apartments that buy an electric vehicle as their only car are probably running into problems. It logically makes sense.

I strongly believe it will. It's hard to gauge the progress in real time.

It's like anything that requires significant change. If a person is trying to lose weight you can't see it day by day. Stop seeing that person for a whole year, then you'll see the difference.

I know people hate EV's and that's fine. If we give it a chance it can co-exist with ICE like it's happening now.

Idk why people can't like both.

If an EV was my only car, then i fucked up. I would admit that.

People have to judge their lifestyle and commute before committing to this.

I don't have level 2 at my house but my GF does. And there's about 8 SC stations within a 4 mile radius of me. And 2 or 3 by my job.

If i have to take a road trip, which i never do, i'd rent a car to do it anyway. I wouldn't even take any of my cars. ICE or EV.

We have to give it time and let this progression happen. We can't just put a bullseye on EV and think of every scenario where it couldn't work and just say the whole thing can't work. It works. It's been working for many people already. You just have to understand if it'll work FOR YOU.

It works for me so i'm happy.

google maps will show you where they are, among many mapping sites on the net. They aren't everywhere like gas stations are.

Here is an interesting thought: large events. About 250K people attend the Indy 500 every year. If we convert to all EV's, and that number requires 100K EV's to travel for that event, and those 100K EV's all need charged once and only once for this event, and the average battery recharge is 65KWh (super conservative here), that's 6.5 GWh. Even if this load spread over a week, where will all that power come from?

As a contrast, 100K cars driving 300 miles at 25MPG is about 1.2 million gallons of gas. Spread over a week that's less than 1% of Indiana's normal gasoline consumption/capacity.

I never said they were everywhere. I was commenting that the other guy said it should be everywhere like gas stations and i said they're building more and more of them as time moves foward. There's no "halt" in this. There's more stations being built.

I don't worry about where the power is coming from. I care about if there's a SC station on public roads and if i'm able to charge at home. That's what everyone should be thinking.

If they're saying, "hmm should i get an EV or not yet?"

They should think, ok am i able to charge at home? Ok if not, how many SC stations nearby? If both don't check out, THAT PERSON isn't ready to get an EV.

But as time moves foward, more of these will pop up and they'll be around. Again it's hard to assess progress in real time.

Bro stop. Nobody hates EV’s. Come on man enough. Just because people see all the practicality challenges they pose and point them out doesn’t mean they hate them. I have told you I like Tesla even though I think his cars are ugly. I have showed you a couple of other electric vehicles I think are cool, including the Porsche Tycan.

I’m just trying to be positive brother.

I really don’t think electric vehicles will get past being a novelty for the foreseeable future. I just don’t. And I’ve said before and I’ll say it again if you take governments involvement out of it, they would disappear all together other than probably Tesla, because those cars have never been about being green to begin with.

Has nothing to do with tesla. I said EV. Tesla is one car maker. But it's good to know that's the first car brand you think of when EV is mentioned

All the posts are just an indirect way of saying you hate EV. At least that's the way i see it.

At the end of the day, like i keep saying, it's going to happen. It might not be right, or it might be too early, i would agree. But it's going to happen. If it is indeed 2035 when this is all happening, it's not like all your ICE cars will magically disappear. It just means the clock ticks for that chapter to finally be done. Who knows what will happen after.

Will we get taxed per year given the number of miles driven in our ICE cars? Similar to a lease? Meaning pay x amount of dollars if you do 3k miles a year on your ICE? What will gas cost per gallon then?

We don't know any of this. Meaning we don't know how well, or not, EV will be by the time 2035 comes.

If it's working for many people now, we can only assume it'll get better over time since they're trying to transition into this globally.

Bro why do you keep using that to antagonize people here? That’s why I said you were trolling earlier in this thread. You have no idea what’s going to happen in 2035. Neither do I. Would you bet your future 2035 net worth right here and now that your prediction about EV’s 2035 will come 100% true? Of course you wouldn’t. Yet you seem to get some sort of enjoyment out of the hope that you’re continually bringing it up aggravates the living crap out of some here. Please know it doesn’t aggravate me. I just kind of laugh about it. I’ve known my wife for 29 years and I have no idea what she’s going to do tomorrow but you know what the entire auto industry will look like 12 years from now. A US president once said that we would be completely out of fossil fuels by the year 2010. That president said that 50 years ago. See where I’m going?

Dude it’s all fun and games. Relax.

I already said I found it funny to see you guys get riled up. It’s not a big deal. I’m a nobody to any of you here so just ignore it. There’s only a few people who feel the need to combat what I’m saying so it does look like it’s aggravating you. Others obviously read what I’m posting but they scroll right past or they already have me on ignore. It’s all in good fun.

I love ICE just as much as you. I’m waiting on my forever car in the c8 z06. You can’t get any more pure ice as that with the NA engine. So trust me I get what you’re saying. I just so happen to be a big fan of ev so that’s where I’m on both sides and not totally siding with you.

A foldaway mini-bicycle should be a standard option on an EV so when you run out of charge with no charge posts in sight you can still cycle to your destination
