They're Samoyeds. The boy in the background is 7 yrs old. The puppy is 10 weeks. The fun begins again!

Anyone else’s dog shits way too much for the amount they eat or is it just my golden? The amount I pick up from the side of the backyard and on his walks seems like a huge amount. The shit to food eaten is a lot higher than mine lol

I think many kibbles use bulkers of some sort, so your dog will never (!) suffer from constipation.
Onslow eats people food (often with raw meat), which I figure is bad enough for him. But we walk many other dogs, and regularly see what you are talking about!

Congratulations!
Samoyed puppies are like little plush-toys.
I didn't get the below pup, named "Vodka"!
We got Onslow, in the bottom pic, with his mom & aunt.

When puppies, yes, but it has always normalized for our dogs once they reach 12-18 mos. and start eating dog food 1x/ day rather than puppy food more than 1x/day. We have always fed all our dogs kibble. We also keep an eye on anything else they get. Small treats + an occasional banana slice or couple of blueberries and not much else. (Some treats add up calories quickly.). Other than maybe a tiny piece of tenderloin once a year, they don’t get any other table scraps.

Finally got that car pic with the puppies. Guess something was in the woods beside me...as the white shep was focused on it pretty hard.

Good to know, I just thought they had inefficient digestive systems of something. I’ve had loads of chihuahuas up til now so this is the first time I’m having to pick up this volume of poo

He’s 15 months now and I’m noticing he’s not eating as much now since I’ve switched him to adult at 12 months. He eats about 3/4 of a bowl daily and he nibbles thru the day and eat the bulk of it in the late afternoon with some treats throughout the day. He’s at 72lbs and vet says it’s a healthy weight but he still looks a tad thin to my eyes.

We are on our third Samoyed, & so know the breed a little bit (been hooked on them since living with one in college in the '70s (Toki)).
We characterize them as half Golden Retriever, & half wolf:
Traditionally, they lived a lifestyle where they worked with the Inuit people in all sorts of ways. the dogs had to do most anything the people could make them do, or else they couldn't have lived so far north.
But the breed has not been westernized as much as most & retains a primal aspect, being first brought to England in the beginning of the 20th century to get to the south pole when the Husky dogs couldn't do it.
The Samoyed is also the closest real dog breed to the wolf, genetically. Put them in the woods, & it shows!

Beautiful dogs! I've always loved the Samoyed. They have great dispositions, are excellent with kids, and just lovely dogs to be around. Of course, our rule the house and our lives now revolve around them.

We started with one as a pet (female, who became my dog), got a second as a pet/show dog (our male, Kaiser) who has done extremely well, and then got our 2nd female, who is attached to my wife and another show dog. Those two were inadvertently left in the backyard alone at the wrong time. 2 months later, we had our first litter and got my wife hooked on breeding. We kept one of the girls (momma in the picture below), because we just can't stop with 3. Over time, my wife got more involved in dog shows and is establishing herself as a reputable breeder. Celeste is #5 in the pack, largely because she's got all of the right traits to win and produce good puppies. Plus, my wife really regrets not keeping one of the girls from our litter from earlier this year.

Not really. They prefer to be around us so the can chew on our toes. 🤣 Our last litter was big into belly rubs, which was about the only way we could get them to lay next to us.

I've found Samoyeds to not be the best cuddle dogs. They get hot, and leave to find a cold spot.
The good is, they won't sleep on the couch for that reason.

Same here. Ours are not big cuddlers. They want there loves, but then they'll get up when they've had enough. Ours do take over the couches and the bed, but eventually they leave and go lay on the tile because it's cooler.
