Thanks E, I've been actually quite fortunate with LEOs over the years. When I bought the e90 in '08, I bet my wife that if I didn't get a ticket in a year, she would buy me something nice. Well, in 12 years I managed only two warnings and figured that bet compounded interest and my wife found me the P-car. This recent CHP stop was a neighbor, who wanted to stop me to simply 'catch up'.

That's good to hear. Guess you were fooling us putting it in the FML thread. Good one.

Yeah, I've received one ticket in the last 5 years. Not surprising it was right after I got the 135.

I was going to meet the lady for lunch in a commercial area and some dick in a lifted truck kept trying to block me from getting by so I finally BLEW past him.

Heard the "bwoop bwoop."

"What do you think the speed limit is here?"
"45?"
"No, it's 25."

So I explained why I was speeding. Pointed out the truck because they pulled in the parking lot to point and laugh.

He popped me at 61 in a 25, he only wrote it for 10 over.

Enjoyed my 4 page “how’s your spiritual life” thread. Someone must have gotten triggered by the grace God. Thread was removed. Not fml, but figured a good place to complain 😂.

I’ve been working with a contractor on firewalls since December. Today he asked me “Hey, I’m looking at some old AYSO photos from the 80’s and noticed Mr Wede was my coach. Is he related to you?”

I put the phone on mute and cried, but had to get back on to answer a question

Today was 1-year anniversary of my fathers passing

My wife and her family have a full-blown picnic at her mom's grave each year. I never met the lady so bring a book and take the younger nieces/nephews for walks around the graveyard. Yes, I'm THAT uncle . . .

The one year anniversary is tough. It's still so fresh and odd not having them around, it's hard to believe a year has passed.

I cried also coming home from picking up my new truck, because I couldn't tell either mom or dad that their baby done did good: paid off the house and got a new truck

You're a good man Uncle Wede, and I'm sure it wouldn't have mattered if you paid of the car and house, your parents were still proud of you beforehand.

I'm going to not be in the best shape when my parents go, I know that, but I'm hoping they are around for another 10 years or so hopefully! Your post though reminds me that I've sort of taken them for granted recently. Probably time to tell them how much I appreciate them when they are back from their cruise.

Update: My refrigerator has died again. This time though, I'm ready with a new motherboard. It took me all of about four minutes the change the old board for the new and another three to four minutes to program it. Hopefully this solves the issue and saves me from buying a new fridge any time soon.

Hope that works out for you. A few years ago we were without one for a couple of days. A real PITA. We had to buy a lot of ice and keep things in this giant cooler we have that we used to use for camping.

And as I'm sure you know, refrigerators aren't cheap these days. Don't remember what we paid for our new one off the top of my head but it was expensive and they're made cheaper, quality-wise, too.

Thanx, I hope it works too. The fridge is not new by any means. It was bought about 9-10 years ago to go with the kitchen reno. Until this motherboard failure it has been absolutely reliable since day one. The only issue has been the weirdly designed ice dispenser that seems to always manage to sneak an ice cube past whatever glass you are using and send it skittling across the kitchen floor and under cabinets, stove, table and even out into the hall on occasion. At first it was annoying, now it's a source of entertainment trying to guess where the damn ice cube went. IIRC it was in the neigbourhood of $2k back then, probably closer to $3k now, if not more. If the $270 motherboard gets me another few years of service out of it I'll be happy.

You need either a child or pet to chase the cubes!

My first word was "cockroach" Apparently my dad would yell it out while I was crawling on the floor, and I'd set off in search of said new fren

I bought a truck, new, in December. So it is less than 3 months old, and has 1,500 miles on it. This happened last night. I suspect it is totaled, but we’ll see what the adjuster says once the tree is removed.

The house doesn’t seem too bad, other than the gutters. Won’t know that either until the tree is gone.

This really doesn’t rise to the level of FML, more of a PITA

^ That's a bummer.

Things like that are happening a lot with this crazy weather we're having.

I got a 30+ year old pine tree that my daughter and I planted that I hope never comes down because of wind and rain, or any other reason.

If it does fall, have a nice bench or other piece of furniture made from it -something she can cherish after you’re gone. And a nice campfire with the rest!

Not a whole lot of consolation but I just wanted to say that I like your house!

And I have trees like yours and yes one fell on my car once and insurance wrote it off. Difference was my car was 8 years old and had the slightest frame damage so I think that's what did it in. Your situation might be different given how new the truck is. Hope you have coverage to buy brand new not just replacement.

Btw - thoughts on the Ram so far? I'm thinking it might be my next truck come November.

Love the RAM. I talked to a lot of truck friends before I bought it. All of the former Ford owners had really bad experiences with their last F150 and switched to RAM. Chevy and GMC owners told me they don’t run to 100,000 miles any more without power train failures. That matches what I had seen with the GMC Yukon Denali XL. Only drawback is trucks have gotten really expensive.

Take a look at the Tacos. My little GMC Sonoma was the best ever, but 2 weeks into Taco ownership and I’m totally stoked
