Okay I admit it, I'm a ricer/racer who races stoplight to stoplight. So you're in good company.

Among others.
I actually do own a 2005 Ford Focus, too. The guys who post here and 6SpeedOnline have known this for a while. We sometimes laugh at the jokes I "catch" here about me not being able to afford a 335i.

props to the focus... I think its a brilliant little car. The only complaint I had about the mkI's was the inability to adjust the steering wheel. I hope they bring the RS here. Should be a nifty little package

The funny thing is, I feel the Focus actually handles pretty well. It has a curb weight of around 2500lbs, 151hp, and 154lbs of torque, it's not a bad car.
The best part is I can bring this car to Ralph's and not worry about people throwing their shopping carts into my door.

If any of you get the opportunity to drive the new Focus RS then jump at it, it's still amazes me how Ford got this thing to control all those 300 horses through the front wheels. More amazing is that it still copes when you boot it in a corner and the way the power is delivered in third and forth (I think first and second have the torque pegged back a bit) is truly impressive.
It might not be as impressive an engine as the new TT-RS but it's better than any of the rice racers, that's for sure. It's looks aggressive, drives the same and actually rides remarkably well considering. |

i dont feel like reading through all 8 pages of the thread, but i did read a few of the posts. i see that quite a few claimed the new (B8) S4 will "destroy" a stock 335i, where does that info come from? the old S4 or even the S5 with V8 performs bout the same as 335i, 1/4 or roadcourse.(saw a vid but cant remember where).
i'm sure the new S4 has improved in everyway and gotten the supercharged V6 instead of the heavy ass V8, but to say it all of a sudden is alot faster than a stock 335i is hard to believe. in fact, i believe they perform bout the same in straightline. it is a good thing that they priced teh A4 very competitively with the 335i now and has the performance to back it up. the last gen with V8 were.. blah S5 = very overpriced and under performed. hope the next S5 will be more like the 335i coupe in price. |

http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/4...n010003td9.jpg S4 vs 335i, the S4 continously pulls on the 335i and at the 200km/h point it's a full 2.6 seconds ahead. That's huge when both are meant to be rivals. This next test compares the S4 vs EVO X and the 335i x-drive where the S4 again out performs the 335i to the tune of 2 seconds up to 180km/h. [IMG][/IMG] Then there is the difference in handling. Sportauto tested both and found the new S4 to be at least 1 second quicker around Hockenheim. What ever way you slice it the S4 is a superior performer. |

Yeah you honestly just can't argue anything against the Audi, except that you're a cock if you drive it. But that's ok in my book.
They've been tweaking it in the right spots, addressing plowing and other notoriosly unfavorable A/S4 traits. And the fact that they've lowered the boom on BMW in the pricing arena as well as opening the doors for F/I tuning... well... I'm just hoping they're more mechanically sound than the 335. If so, then I know what I'm getting in a couple years once any initial kinks should be worked out unless BMW comes back with an unexpectedly positive counter punch by then. |

Yeah, that is a fair comparison. the lowest performing 335i model against the highest performing from the A4 line. The ix model from BMW with high riding SUV like suspension and skinny tires is more tuned for rain and snow than track performance. You know you are in trouble when you have to compare to a 335i with 225/45/17 tires in order to claim victory. LOL!

S4 Hockenheim time 335i Coupe Hockenheim time Oh, I forgot, the DCT 335i Coupe could only manage a time of 1:17.9. I'm also interested to hear your explanation for the S4's superior acceleration as well. It surely can't be traction as the S4 continues to improve as the speeds increase, long pass the point were traction could possibly still be a problem. P.S. And by all means, if you prefer to ignore the evidence that your prerogative. |

Look at the 0-40km/h point for both the 335ix and the S4, it's the BMW that's actually ahead by 0.1s. So clearly traction wasn't an issue. Lap time I will agree with but that's why I included the times from Sportauto because those times were conducted with the appropriate rubber and the car which did the 1:17.8 lap also did the ring in 8:26. Guys the S4 is the superior car for now, get over it. |

There's no doubt the S4 is the superior car. I'm just saying that the term "destroys" is a little extreme.

The S4 is simply the slightly better performer. It's better, but not by a mile. The 335i is still a good performance car in its price segment, just not the best (it never was in my opinion because of the C6).

I personally think in acceleration the S4 does "destroy" the 335i, but the 335i is only "well beaten" on lap time. It's very similar to how the RS6 vs M5 battle appears on the pages of a magazine, but unlike the RS6 the S4 is actually a decent entertainer. |
