I didn't say it was a rational decision. It rarely is.

I had a relationship where the other person was really awful to me. Once we got past it, I couldn't help myself but mention little things at times when I remembered them. It was petty, but it was so truly miserable I never got over it and I wanted (perhaps unconsciously) to make sure he knew damn well what he'd done.

I do this with my wife maybe a couple of times a month. Why? I'll tell you why. I was with this girl named 'Julie' for almost five years. She left me for another guy and I was distraught for a while as she was my first true gf. So after that happened I went on a rampage for a good 1.5 years (which I have been coy to her about). Anyway, when we met she would throw her name around at first which was annoying as fuck. Now if she does some gay ass shit to piss me off I will call her Julie

and she hates that. This is how I keep her in check.
