I'm shocked that the ct4v did a faster laptime than the 2.0 supra. smh.

So hypothetically, if BMW released a coupe version of the Z4, would everybody just buy that instead of the Supra?
I would. i understand there's stil toyota designed performance and such, but man...i'd rather just go with the guys who developed the engine. also, just a quick point of order: if you're gonna play games with taxes, go right ahead. but i just hope you don't show any double standards and whine about american companies firing americans and shipping jobs overseas. because they also do it to....dodge taxes, amongst other things. so again, if you call that capitalism, it's all good. just make sure if if you lose your job due to outsourcing, you keep that same energy. cause capitalism.

IMO they still have released a Supra...its just a Z4 dressed for casual Friday. LoL
I think design wise, the car falls flat. The concept looked fairly similar but way more aggressive and IDK why Toyota decided THIS was the car they were going to do a joint venture for. Its like if BMW decided to collab with Honda for the next M3/M4. Just doesn't make any damn sense. I just don't like it...but to each his own |

Agreed 100% to the first & partially agree with the 2nd. You would still have caught flack for ruining an iconic car. However since the 2000GT is so far removed from most people's minds I think you could get away with it more successfully than the Supra name plate

The problem with the Supra is that when it was for sale it wasn't iconic. In fact nobody even cared about it. Toyota couldn't sell them. It had a small following but never became notable until the first F&F movie so the reality is that it's iconic as a used tuner car mostly for its engine. The reality is that even if Toyota made the latest Supra, fans of the MK4 would not look on it kindly as it wouldn't have a 2JZ-GTE engine in it as that's what made that car special as the rest of the car was big, heavy, and somewhat homely compared to cars of that day such as the FD RX-7, 300ZXTT, 3000GT.

To each their own, but most people that met in real life love the looks of my car. A lot of non-car people are also shocked when they find out it's a 93. While I do agree the car isn't perfect by any means, let's not make the A80 out to be the R35 GT-R. Last edited by supra93; 02-16-2021 at 05:16 PM.. |

And yes, the economy killed a bunch of those cars. I looked it up the other day, I believe, inflation adjusted a '96 Supra Turbo would be approaching $80k in today's dollars. So in '96 for half the cost of Supra, you could buy a 310hp V8 Camaro. I realize it's not a good comparison on fit/finish/etc, but just on PPOOOWWAAAHHHH. |
