Waaay out of the mainstream -- a 1955 GMC Scenicruiser merged with a 1949 General American Aerocoach. Regretfully, no interior photos.

Mercedes-Benz's 300 was the top of the line in the early 1950s. It was powered by a lesser-output version of the inline six in the 300SL; power was 115 hp for the base sedan and four-door convertible and was 150 hp for the short-wheelbase 300S, which came in coupe, roadster (300Sc) or cabriolet form.

Here's a 1955 300S Cabriolet A, built in small numbers (only 560 between 1952 and 1958) and available at a price similar to a new Ferrari or Rolls-Royce.

Like many a luxury European car of the era, restoration of the interior wood trim is a formidable task.

Back to the Cobra for a minute. I just watched this last night. Talk about a 1 of 1 car.

And -- for the curious -- here's a couple of photos of the 300 four-door cabriolet D.

The 1961-66 Lincoln Continental convertible, which I posted a photo of yesterday, also came in four-door convertible form. However, the Continental convertible rear doors were rear hinged "suicide" style doors.

They had to add 'harmonic balancing' weights in the front of the convertible to keep it stable at highway speeds. Some also had them in the rear.

All of the 1961-66 Continentals were suicide door cars. Sedans and convertibles.

1938 Lagonda LG6 Rapide Drophead Coupe -- only 85 LG6s were produced in 1938-1939 before World War II interrupted production. Only six cars were Rapides. Inline six of 4.5 liters with 140 hp.

Designed by W.O. Bentley, who had left Rolls-Royce with bad feelings and wanted to design a luxury performance car.

It's got to be a custom. Check out the "442" badging. Very cool!

That's what I was thinking. My father had a '69 442 convertible back in the day so I'm quite familiar with them.
I wonder if the front clip and doors from the Cutlass will bolt up to the Chevelle chassis?
