In the photograph, Earth's apparent size is less than a pixel; the planet appears as a tiny dot against the vastness of space, among bands of sunlight reflected by the camera.
Voyager 1, which had completed its primary mission and was leaving the Solar System, was commanded by NASA to turn its camera around and take one last photograph of Earth across a great expanse of space, at the request of astronomer and author Carl Sagan. The phrase "Pale Blue Dot" was coined by Sagan in his reflections on the photograph's significance, documented in his 1994 book of the same name."

It’s a clear night here tonight. Love it when these two dance. Add in a little bit of contrail, perfect.

Good planetary visibility these days in the evening in the northern hemisphere: Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn easily spotted with a clear sky.

It's a humble and humbling quote to put things into perspective.

Whether we like it or not, humans are selfish and immature beings only concerned with our own little bubbles of space. If we were forward thinking there would be greater efforts to protect our planet from harm from a life ending collision, and efforts to allow humans to continue in other places if that were to occur.

Technologically we are not there yet, so we will have to hope that if we survive without killing each other for a some centuries yet we will see the light.

I guess most of us will have to be satisfied with owning BMW's and drinking alcohol because the vastness of the universe escapes us even if we did want to explore it further.
