Just the exterior of that M3 looks flawless. Thinking to get rid of my 335 after warrantys gone and get a e36 M3 as well.
no idea how much $$, I dont want to know

not THAT much really, under 20k total. I havent spent much on the recent updates at all, just a lot of my time since i'm doing it all myself and learning as I go.

lol...I know man. I didnt have an engine hoist and just wanted to get it done. I also KNOW that if I had the engine out I wouldnt put it back in before it was fully built. Need to invest that $$ into my business/brokerage. Doing all the work with the blokc in the car to make sure I didnt built it

Nice build man!

Is this a conventional 35r? If so, you should definitely give HTA35/82 or HTA35/86 consideration. HTA3582 not only outspools 35r, but makes more top end. I've seen 650whp out of HTA3582, and more than 720whp out of HTA3586.

Use the real turbo!! and make sure to get a twinscroll.

yes regular 35r. the turbo will likely stay thought id love the HTA, really depends on what my tuner wants to do. he'll be using my car to tune for a production turbo kit so it will have to be with components he wants in the kit. To keep costs down I think he wants to stay w a regular 35r.

Yes that would be perfect. I wish this had been an option when I had my M3. Instead, the only real kits were for S/C, and all the turbo work had to be done custom.

I want that car back so badly now after reading this thread again....

MORE PROGRESS!!!

Remembered my good camera today thank god.

Ryan came over again after work and we got to work. Good progress tonight, more Thursday, possibly even get the motor minus the intake mani all back together!

Orings that I completed last night

Cyl 1 and 2 where you can see the full figure 8

Cyl 3 and 4

Fresh head with exhaust mani and new hardware installed

New arp2000's

New MLS

ARP's installed finger tight.

Wes and Ryan fartin around

gasket in place

The head is in! heavy sucker w the iron exhaust mani installed. Had to bend that a/c line outward w a 6' crowbar to get clearance lol.....I should have gotten a picture of that. Pretty damned happy it didnt break on me.

Ryan using his badass Snap-On torque wrench on the studs. I didnt want to break it...it costs more money than I've spent on the head refresh/parts etc for this job!

Tq to 32ft/lb then 2 90 degree rotation sessions

Cam's are in, need to set up for timing still.

as she sits....starting to look like something that can start again.

Great progress the past 2 days! Pretty pumped.

more progress. Clutch, Flywheel removed, new rear main seal put on. Clutch / Flywheel put back on, refreshed tranny reinstalled. Engine locked at TDC. Dropped the front subframe and pulled the oil pan and completely cleaned it in and out. New oil pan gasket. Installed new SS brake lines and flushed and ran new bmw brake fluid.....fully rebled. New and flushed power steering fluid.

Thats what I got done last night, no pics as its not really pertaining to this thread. Tomorrow i'll start on putting the cams back ina nd retiming everything, then to the m50 mani and the driveshaft and shifter. Then turbo and exhaust.

Then its time to start it!!!!

Been a crazy few days w/ a busy real estate market AND working every free minute I have on the car. Want it back up and running to head down to MIR this Friday for a track rental!!!

Here it is yesterday when I got there

A great purchase from Toys R Us, baby pool for $10, perfect to let slop drop into. Also where I cleaned my oil pan and other greasy parts. Huge help in keeping the shop cleaner until a massive spring clean happens once my car is out of the way.

So the tranny is back in, UUC ssk and dssr and cleaned, regreased and reinstalled. Then we jacked up the engine, dropped the front subframe and pulled the oil pan. Cleaned the hell out of it in and out and reinstalled with new gasket. So happy to get this part done, its been on my list since I bought the car a year ago.

ummmm, clean oil pan

now its time to put the fun stuff in, turbo ready to go in, Radowski oil feed line installed already

flange on the TT mani has been surfaced, new gasket from Verocious in place

Entire turbo system down below is in, full exhaust and driveline is reinstalled at this point.

So thats where I stopped after a few hours yesterday. My friend Doyle was over helping me and learning a lot. He really seemed to enjoy it. We'll be installing a full lift kit on his Jeep in here this year somtime

===============================================

Snuck away from the office mid day today inbetween contract negotations lol

Since the bottom end is fully buttoned up I started on a cosmetic mod I wanted to get done before the car goes back on the road.

Pulled the front bumper

Pulled the intercooler and sprayed it flat black with high temp SS stove paint. 2 light coats on the front only, a little on the top, thats it.

You can see I got impatient and TOASTED it with the huge kerosene heater so the paint dried in 3 minutes

Back on the car....lookin mean

Front end all buttoned up, bumper and mesh back on and charge piping back in........we're getting close!!!

Back on the road for a 120 mile 97 degree and high humidity torture test today before I go on a 4 1/2 hr one way trip this weekend to West Virginia w my girlfriend. Car worked flawless other than a little stumble at traffic lights when it got really hot out. Thinking I have a small vacuum leak. Will pressure test tomorrow.

I could certainly feel timing being pulled when it was super hot. I wanted to test the cooling system......so I had the windows up, A/C on full blast creepin in traffic w super hot ambient temps. Water temp creeped up to 220 degrees and stayed there. My eyes were on the gauge like a hawk the whole drive. Worked great. In normal conditions the car normally stays at 190-200.

Out showing houses and decided to snap a few shots. Liked these 2
