Good to see the G90 beat the base F90 M5 in both the off-the-line drag race and the drag from a rolling start (that one wasn't even close with all that hybrid torque). Be interesting to see the G90 go up against the F90 M5C and M5CS. But yikes, the overall review was pretty negative.

Man, the review I was waiting, because I know these guys have very similar to me in cars, and they criticize what needs to be criticized. They tore apart the new M5. Jesus. That was embarassing for BMW

I love throttle house people and agree will all the points
I remember initially they did not like the M8 and then on recent review they changed their minds I think with the new regulations all gone the old days and we should stop comparing new cars to old ones given the new requirements and the added weight from the batteries |

Yeah, I agree. My summary would be "it's surprisingly faster than the F90, and it does what an M5 is supposed to do, which is get you to work quickly. But we don't like the looks, and it's less adept at cornering."
And I wish they would have leaned more heavily on the last point they tried to make in the video- the name of the second office he went into... I truly believe that BMW's main goal for this car was to make sure it had a V8 and to make sure it didn't cost as much as an Astin Martin due to fines for emissions, and a PHEV was the only way to go. For me, it's ideal... it's the first M5 I'll buy because it exactly suits my needs and desires (fast, but comfy, no tracking, with PHEV), but I get how it's not what others may want. I sold my F10 M5 as I was getting murdered in both taxes & fuel costs for daily driving.
I know it would be a different story in the US where automotive costs are tiny comparitively. G90 addresses global climate regulation. People can either accept that or not. The M5 is having rocks thrown at it, mainly by Americans who just don’t care about emissions nor have to deal with climate regulation. That’s fine if all one cares about it purity of the driving experience. I like that too but not to the extent I want my kids breathing terrible air. G90 works for me even if there are compromises.

The Euro climate regulations are a joke. If carbon is really a problem then the only solution is to eradicate China from the face of the earth. And then once China is gone, India has to go next. Unless those 2 countries are eliminated, nothing the rest of the world does will matter. Certainly not going to make a dent with a 25 mile range PHEV M5.

Yikes, this is a very concerning review. They should have compared it to the m5c in my opinion because bmw has said there is no more comp. They almost did bmw a favor. Not to mention who even has a m5 f90, last I checked they barely sold any post 21 due to minor price diff if at all… and the slight advantage g90 had off the line might be lost too if compared to m5c.. now that would suck

And, having owned one, I guarantee some of you will be amazed that your G90 can manage your whole daily commute without using a teaspoon of gas. I too was sceptical until I lived with a 545e for a few years.

I loved my 2016 F10 which I purchased used. Some great backroads near me to get that leery backend rotating a little during spirited drives. Time will tell whether all of that essence is lost in the G90. However, I’m in the market for a new car in this space. What’s the competition really? Also bear in mind that full ICE will add $70,000 to the price in my market. 🤯
