2024 i5 tire noise

I currently have a 2023 X5 and would like to move from an SUV back to a 4 door sedan. I’ve been test driving the new 5 series - both gas and electric - and have been surprised by what I think is significantly elevated tire noise and/or poor cabin insulation. They all had non-run flat tires, just to be specific. I wouldn’t think a $70,000 sedan is supposed to be that noisy!

I’ve somewhat narrowed it down to an i5. I drove both the regular and the MSport-optioned versions (not the full-on M). I have a question for those of you who know more about this than I do: The MSport model had moderate tire noise, but a regular i5 demo, with 5000 miles on the odometer, was excessive! Like, annoyingly so, mostly coming from the rear. Both models had 20” Pirelli PZero all-season tires. I don’t suspect anything mechanically wrong with the car. Is it normal that as the tires wear (in this case, 5000 miles) they get substantially noisier? Has anyone else noticed this or this situation about the 5 series, in general?

Thank you all!
