Need some help for repairs on an E92 328xi
To make a long story short, my clutch went out when trying to back into my driveway and dealerships are charging me a fucking absurd amount... so I've decided to take it to my work and do the whole thing on my day off, and since it's got 150K miles on it I'll just do the whole trans overhaul. It's a 6 speed manual transmission, and it's AWD. My only current problems are:
I need to know what tools I'll need for the job. I have a hydraulic lift and stands to hold the drivetrain, trans, exhaust, and whatever else I need to take off to access whatever needs to be replaced. If you can list the tools necessary (socket sizes/types, special tools, etc.) that'd help a LOT I have no frame of reference for how to do it. Sure, I've taken apart manual transmissions... but never taken one out of a car, or done a clutch & flywheel job. If you have any guides, preferably ones I can print out and not have to scroll and listen to someone, those would be much appreciated My foreman's agreed to help me with the job, but he's familiar with the E36 and E46, not so much the E92, so I figured what better place to ask than the people who work on and know them? Any and all help's appreciated, thanks a million |

The e9x platform is pretty well documented. I'd be surprised if the old crew over at e90post.com didn't already have a DIY for this or at least most of the info you need.
Some google searches: Clutch DIY site:e90post.com 328i xdrive clutch dyi site:e90post.com Should get you started but also maybe search on youtube.

I've taken the engine out of my e90 (RWD) and all that i remember needing is plenty of various E-torx. E18 if i remember right, which is pretty big and not included in alot of etorx kits. Good luck!

You'll need a clutch alignment tool. Seems your work is already an auto repair shop. This tool should already be there or traditionally one of the mechanics should already have this tool as mechanics at repair shops use their own hand tools.
