M5 Challenger - Panamera Turbo S E hybrid
For all those freaking out about the M5 weight... well freak out a little more.. the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid weights 5311 lbs also.
Judging by the specs is also using the same EV side powertain as BMW and everyone else. If you note it ran a 7:24.17 around the ring... manufacturers can hide weight..so freak put a little more please. |

I seriously hope people don't buy these cars. Germany's economy is heavily dependent on the auto industry. If these EV and PHEV cars don't sell well, the government is going to have to loosen the restrictions.

I will repeat the post I made on another thread.
Prices are out for the new M5 in Brazil (pre-order) and holy cow, its almost the same price as the Panamera Turbo Hybrid here (around 50k R$ cheaper which is 10k USD). Major price hike over the outgoing M5 F90, and even more expensive than a F95 BMW X6 M Competition here. The car comes fully optioned here though. Insane price. Maybe not in the USA, but I believe in many parts of the world, the M5 will be in direct confrontation with the Panamera Turbo Hybrid. The M5 will be in a bad position if they adopt this pricing strategy in other places of the globe. |

The US is the largest market for the M5..and the M5 is 121k USD ...the Panamera Turbo S E Hybrid is 228k USD. So there is 107k USD base price difference. M5 splits the difference between the 4E Hybrid and 4S E hybrid in price. |

To echo the above, the Panamera is 300k CAD vs 160 for the M5

I find it bizarre how pricing strategies and pricing of cars in Brazil is so different to the US. Porsche's are very agressively priced here. Although the base M5 is not really a far comparison to the base Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, as the Panamera is filled with goodies as standard. Nonetheless there is still an easy 80k usd difference between two in the US, while in Brazil they are almost identically priced. |

Some countries have value added taxes, and your cars may come better equipped vs our base. Never mind dollar conversion |

I was just thinking this after seeing the ZR1. If EU keeps going down this path, shooting themselves in the foot, I’m going American in the future.

The new ZR1 looks baller but I think once optioned reasonably I bet that thing will be close to or north of $200k. Also it’s my understanding Chevy isn’t limiting its production but I bet they’re still super hard to come by for a long time. Maybe im wrong on both accounts but we will see. Also a two seater so maybe not a direct competitor here though. Then again I know you weren’t saying that in your reply. Just got me thinking about the Corvette lol.

This seems the case as the MB CEO mentioned not long ago that they had revised their future plans and they are now intending to manufacture ICE cars for much longer than previously planned.

1) both will sell like hot cakes to their respective consumer base
2) I would compare the Panamera to the S63 for a lot of reasons Just the way of the world now. We gotta pay to play unfortunately- and not the with the list of toys we were once accustomed to. Price being one of them
