2024 BMW Ultimate Driving Experience

Hey guys, just wondering what's going on with this years UDE. I'm in the website and all of the events are closed for some reason, anyone have any news on why that is?

They just haven’t opened registration yet even though they have the website up.

I have yet to drive up to Milwaukee since I’ve lived in Chicago. If it looks like this year’s event will be worthwhile this will give me a reason to get up there.

Waiting on this. there was a free M track (3 laps) last year in Chicago. Think of doing a whole day this time in Wisconsin.

Yes at Autobahn. It was through the same site I believe, sponsored by one of the dealerships. I didn't know that it (though it did say in registration) was M till I got to the track.

The 2024 UDE dates are up, looks like they are skipping Boston this year.

I have a vague recollection of seeing this. I can’t figure out what made me decide not to do it.

I'll sign up, but looks like it's a 540i and an i5 as the cars this year, which isn't interesting to me.

Has anyone gone yet in 2024?

What’s the lineup like? Also are the street drives now with a guide in the car as the website says? In the past the street drives did not have a guide in the cars with you.

The street “tour” isn’t worth doing anymore.

Yeah, street drives are different this year. You know go out with an instructor. They drive a "lead car" and you follow along on the route. You go in groups of three. For example, the group I was in had an M240i, an X7 M60i and an iX. You get to drive all 3 cars in your group. You just switch cars after going around the route, until you've driven all 3.

Is this just driving the car on regular city roads? Basically just like you might on your own, except you're doing it with a group?

Yeah. They have a pre-planned route, and you just follow the instructor in a pack. They put a walkie talkie in the cars so they can communicate with you.

On the one I did, they actually encouraged us to floor the gas and go after it a bit. We were doing 75-80 mph on roads that were marked at 45. Apparently they worked something out with the local police to turn an eye .

I did it in SW Chicago, just the autocross. When I did my first one a few years ago in the G20 330i, they timed everyone, and it was a lot a fun since it was a pseudo competition. They abandoned that at some point, and while I did 3 runs, it was over super quick. This was 20 minutes from my house, but I probably won't go out of my way to attend unless they're using cars I really want to try out on autocross.

Also worth adding, I did get a $1,000 OL code for attending. So if you’re in the market for a new car, could be worth it just for that.

That sounds pretty dumb. Maybe the only upside is that I can't get lost. Most of these they usually say here's the planned route go follow this and then a few turns in I'm no longer on that route and then I eventually find my way back and starting point.

What did it cost to attend? And is it stackable?

No cost to attend, and yes, stackable with other incentives.
