The NFL made the announcement Friday after ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported Dallas was expected to be announced as the team featured on the HBO documentary series.

Coming off a 6-10 record in 2020, the Cowboys' first year under head coach Mike McCarthy, there will be no shortage of storylines for the series to cover during its five-episode run.

The biggest storyline that all Cowboys fans have been following already is the status of Dak Prescott's ankle. The two-time Pro Bowler missed the final 11 games last season after suffering a compound fracture and dislocation to his right ankle against the New York Giants.


By all accounts, Prescott's recovery is going very well. He told reporters after his first practice in May that "it felt great" to be on the field and he's "pretty much full-go."

While Prescott is the driving force for Dallas' success, the defense has to play better in 2021 if the team wants to be considered a Super Bowl contender.

The Cowboys allowed a franchise-record 473 points last season. Football Outsiders had them ranked 21st in pass defense DVOA and 23rd in run defense DVOA and total DVOA.

Dallas did invest heavily on defense during the offseason. Its top six picks in the 2021 NFL draft were on that side of the ball, including Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons (No. 12 overall).

The Cowboys were previously featured on the HBO documentary series in 2002 and 2008.

Well obviously the NFL does. That's why they always have the most Prime Time games. Most Jerseys sold. Hall of Fame Games. Thanksgiving Games.

To be fair, on paper Dak is the best QB in the NFC Least. Philly, Washington and the Giants have questions at QB. However, Dallas’ D is horrific. Might as well call the show Soft Touches.

I'm not living in past shit. Did I mention Championships? NOPE!

I mentioned that the league can't get enough of Dallas and thus they are publicized more than any other team. I am my teams biggest critic. They sucked ginormous ass last year and have for many years. However the fact remains... Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable Sports franchise on planet earth.

Cowboys get some of the best ratings in the NFL. Its why you see tons of BS stories in the sports media year round. People either love them or hate them and always click on the story.

Dallas' D suffered from a dumb scheme change last season. If they can improve to even a top 20 D, the offense can carry the team to double digit wins. Going back to what the players know, as well as some solid drafting, will do wonders for the defense this year.

Yes, both of you are right and that's what is mind boggling. For a franchise that fails repeatedly and hasn't done a damn thing for so many years, I can't wrap my head around this. I don't know a single Cowboys fan yet they are somehow labeled "America's Team" still.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new season.

I will watch and support my team on TV or if someone invites me to a game.
I promised myself that I personally will NOT spend a nickel on merchandise or tickets until they actually reach the NFC Championship several years ago.
They are my team and all but I refuse to donate my money to Mediocrity.
