..::PSI::.. - Walking around the ALL NEW BMW G90 M5 @ Goodwood FOS

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
The G90 M5 is the seventh generation of BMW's M5 lineup. Following the highly popular F90 M5, the G90 garnered much speculation leading up to its grand reveal, only to remain controversial after its launch. This G90 M5 platform is the most powerful and heaviest M5 released so far, with a disclosed curb weight of 5,396 lbs and power output of 727 hp with 738 lb-ft of torque. Despite these impressive figures, the G90 is slower than its predecessor, taking 0.2 seconds longer to go from 0-60 mph. With the M5 touring soon to be released at Monterey car week, we are interested to start planning our routes for the next #builtbypsi car!

Let us know what you think!

Let's wait for more interior leather options, other than that this thing looks great to me. Well except that kink on the rear fender. But can live with that.

Badass. Not a fan of the two tone interior, but that's subjective. My favorite M5 since the E60.

Quick typo! It has been fixed. The new G90 M5 is quite heavy, just not cyber truck heavy!

It's questionable whether the new M5 being 0.2 seconds slower in 0-60 category is impactful or even measurable in daily driving situations, which is where the majority of M5 consumers experience the vehicle capabilities.

It's just a car with weight which is just a number. Choice is a wonderful concept. 1984 VW GTI weighs only 2,000 lbs.

If I were in the market for the new M5, I would buy one.

Great video. No comp coming? Should be interesting if that holds. I like that I hear there will be an upgrade for the rear diffuser cause that gap is killing me. I know it’s subjective but seeing that cord being plugged in is hurting my eyes.

.
Couldn't agree more. I'm not sure why people are so hung up on 0-60 and Nürburgring lap times. If lap times at the track are really that important to you my first question would be why you're buying an M5. For what this car was designed to do, it's a home run and it looks amazing to boot.

Reports are that it’s actually just as quick as the outgoing car in real world testing. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

This issue of weight is becoming old now. BMW had no choice but to go down this road due to strict emissions regulations being implemented in Europe. We should be happy that at least they are still using a V8 and hybrid helps with the fuel mileage. Also, this competes against the Porsche Panamera Turbo Hybrid and that thing is also weighs north of 5K lbs! I’d rather take the M5 even against the Porsche(I’m biased as a former E39 owner)

And all the weight hate by those who haven't even driven it. I certainly hope it doesn't feel as heavy as the i5 m60, but I won't hate on or worry about this before its time.

This is exactly what we are being forced to get used to lately. Well done BMW

I don't hate it. I do not like that interior but I think its just more the clown-car red/black. . . Just for reference I have a Tacora red interior right now so I'm not anti red, I just really dislike that particular red and the way they two toned it.

Not a huge fan of that V diffusor, but otherwise the backend looks pretty good.

The front end is . . . Busy. I don't have an immediate "ew" like I do for that little bucktooth iX thing. . . There are just a whole lot of complicated looking angles and instruments baked into the grill.

I am really not a fan of gloss black all over the car on the interior or the exterior. It hides okay on the outside with a darker color, but it's not for everyone and it really does show scratches like woah as the reviewer said (both inside and outside).

Where can we read all the regulations that are being forced upon the car makers? I am curious how everything seems to get pointed to regulations including questionable exterior and interior design choices and materials.

Genuinely interested to know about emissions, drivetrains etc. to catch up to the European regulations leading to some choices being made. Thanks

Sure it's a bit weird looking, but somehow it fits that blocky, angular design. Same styling as M2 (same exterior designer).

And I bet there will be aftermarket ones to fill in that gap. But it may look too high or too big. Bmw did this to reduce the height visually, diffuser is very big in all aspects this time.
