M5 Owner.. thinking about the new M3 X Drive Comp

I have a 2022 M5 that is due to come off lease in a few months. I am unsure of the new M5 with the hybrid powertrain and extra weight. Ive recently been intrigued by the new M3 Comp X Drive. The dealership has a 2024 model allocation that they are willing to let me have at MSRP. Any M5 owners that have switched to a M3? Do you regret it? This will be a daily driver, mainly HWY miles. I absolutely love my current M5, but I am itching for something different. Considering a C8 Z06 as well (I know, completely different car!)

Thanks for any insight..

Don’t do it. Buy out your M5, get the Z06, or upgrade to a 911 if you have the funds.

one is a luxury car, one is a cramped, twitchy, race car that wants to be revved 3000-7000rpm (nothing much below that) all day long. is that what you're after?

I'd keep the current M5.

The G80 is a pretty civilized road car compared to the F80 and a highly spec'd interior is pretty luxurious. I don't get the "cramped" comment as there's plenty of room in the interior and the only time I would use the word "cramped" to describe anything is if you get the carbon buckets. OP needs to test drive for himself to draw his own conclusion as posters all have biases that may or may not align with the OP's preferences.

Agreed. Just buy out the M5. M3 is a big step down, unless you're doing it to get a manual.

I think he was referring to the Z06 as the twitchy race car but I could be wrong.

I have both the M3 X comp and M5C also a 15 M4 conv, IMHO 15 M4 feels more special than the M5 and M5 feels more M than the 24 M3. If I had to let one of them go, M3 would be first on the list.

Ya know, if they'd put the V8 back where it belongs, I'd never have to step up! I don't need a boat of a car :/
