We're reporting live from Hockenheim for the DTM Season Final. Check this thread for regular updates.
First teaser photos from Saturday Practice and Qualifying Results: Qualifying has just ended. First three are: P1: Augusto Farfus - BMW P2: Gary Paffet - Mercedes P3: Bruno Spengler - BMW Will be a tough race for Spengler tomorrow but good to have a BMW driver on pole. BMW Press Release on Qualifying Results: Hockenheim (DE), 20th October 2012. Augusto Farfus (BR) secured his second pole position of the season at the DTM season finale in Hockenheim (DE). Just as he did three weeks ago in Valencia (ES), Farfus left the opposition trailing in the wake of his Castrol EDGE BMW M3 DTM in the final qualifying of the year, clocking the fastest time of 1:34.140 minutes. This was BMW’s fifth pole position on the tenth race weekend of the season. Behind Farfus, the duel for the 2012 Drivers’ Championship is reaching an exciting climax. Bruno Spengler (CA) qualified third at the wheel of the BMW Bank M3 DTM, just seven thousandths of a second behind the overall leader, Mercedes driver Gary Paffett (GB). This is the third time, after the Lausitzring (DE) and Oschersleben (DE), that BMW has had two drivers in the all-important top-four qualifying. For the first time this season, five BMW drivers qualified in the top ten. Joey Hand (US, SAMSUNG BMW M3 DTM), Martin Tomczyk (DE, BMW M Performance Parts M3 DTM) and Dirk Werner (DE, E-POSTBRIEF BMW M3 DTM) will start from fifth, sixth and seventh respectively on the grid, rounding off BMW’s best qualifying result of the season. Andy Priaulx (GB) went out in “Q2” and will start the race from 14th in the Crowne Plaza Hotels BMW M3 DTM. All six BMW drivers progressed through “Q1” for the third time, after previously achieving this feat at the Norisring (DE) and in Valencia.

looks cool at first...
... but the more i see it, the more i think BMW chopped too much of the top... Makes the car looks "lazy" .... not mean as originally intended...

All I think when I see a DTM car is, how much money would one make in the after market making these headlights for e90/2 and f10/30.

South, looks like you're having a great time! Enjoy!
Anyone know if this is broadcast in the States? I've searched, but can't find a date/time for a broadcast. |

Heading to the Race tomorrow!
I'm so excited! I got my tickets online, just printed them out and getting my camera ready! I got lucky to check the DTM website this past Friday to see if there are any races near home and the final race is only about a 50 min drive from where I'm residing (Stuttgart).
I also read somewhere that you can drive around the track whenever there aren't any events. Gonna look into that! Still want to go the the legendary ring one of these days! |

Pictures from Qualifying:
BMW Motorsport is very enthusiastic about this season. Nobody -- including BMW officials -- has expected such a strong performance in BMW's first year. Whatever happens tomorrow, this is a huge success. As BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt put it, the championship would be "the icing on the cake". That being said, he strongly denies there'll be any order for Augusto Farfus on P1 to make room for Bruno Spengler. Let's keep our fingers crossed tomorrow for all BMW drivers. Best regards, south

slap that on the F20 1series & you have the perfect syndrome combo: lazy-eye + down syndrome.
