G90 - No soft close doors?
Is this confirmed one way or the other? I haven’t heard any reviewers mention it.
Early on there was a lot of confusion about this model being decontented specifically around the B&W sound system and the 4 zone climate control. We now know that both of those features are standard. Has soft close been left off? |

No soft-close doors.
Yes, to B+W, but it's not the full diamond B+W system. It's closer to the B+W system they're shipping in the iX. Edit- and as someone who highly values good audio equipment, the sound in the iX is, to me, just as good as the sound in my 2018 m550 with the Diamond B+W. I think it's because of the surround speakers in the headrest and the 4d sound or whatever they call it that increases bass feel through the back of the seat. I suspect the sound system in the G90/99 won't have those features |

As a HUGE B+W audio fan, I'm not concerned at all by the version they're putting in this one. |

Correction...
The IX system is Diamond and is in the next tier of B&W systems that Bmw offers. The B&W system in the 5 series (absent the Chinese market) is not Diamond. IX- 30 speakers 1615 watts with Diamond domes 5- 17 speakers 655 watts Moewron https://www.bowerswilkins.com/en-us/...Htd5riT_77IZXq Last edited by DocWeatherington; Yesterday at 02:56 PM.. |

You, I like you. I remember when the Plaid was a heavy tank, then Mercedes and BMW said "hold my beer"

Is 4 zone climate standard on the G90 here in the U.S.? I don't see it under the executive package and under standard features from BMWUSA, it shows dual zone climate control. Can someone confirm for the U.S. market.

Soft close door needs some extra DC motors and those motors are heavy.
Against the strategy of saving weight

It also feels like there's some bean counting going on with the pricing. The price of the new M5 surprised me because, adjusted for inflation a BASE 2018 E63 would be $140k in today's money but that's the price of a LOADED 2025 M5. A loaded E63 like mine (that has soft close, massage seats, etc.) would be $180k today but in 2018 was the same price as a fully loaded 2025 M5. Maybe the reason the new M5 seems like a "bargain" is because of decontenting. I won't lie that I was a little disappointed with what's missing compared to what I think it should have. That didn't stop me from ordering one but I'll be losing some features when I replace the Merc.

The B and W in the G60 sucks. It’s going to be the same in the M5. No soft close doors.

Precisely. The reason why all these tech features are absent on the new M5 is to keep the price down. Soft close doors, full leather, high-end stereo, all of these things would push the price considerably higher. |

I mean they offer a $9k brake option, wouldn't kill them to at least offer up this stuff. Soft close doors are whatever for me cause I know how to properly shut a door lol but not giving the option to get the diamond system is a miss imo
