Have RS6, selling for M5 Touring. There are certainly things I like more about the RS6, but moving on to the M5. Plus my license plate is “WAGON” so my options are pretty limited

Its funny that even in a BMW Forum the RS6 has so much votes. Shows how BMW messed up the G99

Joe Achilles’ major (only?) point for going G99 v the RS6 was the lower price point. I mean, at these price levels what’s another $10 or 20k to get a much better car? And the M5 will depreciate like a rock with those batteries.

Family member got lucky with this avant being available. Guy who ordered backed out.

I was a die hard BMW guy for years. The F90 was the greatest all-around car I have ever owned.

But when the lease came due on the F90, I could not find a BMW that interested me. Not even the M8 was attractive enough to suit me.

So I bought a 2023 Audi R8 and leased a 2023 Audi S8 on the same day.
And I just got a 2024 Audi A8L for my parents a week ago. We traded in their 2019 BMW 540i for that. So, suffice it to say BMW lost a handful of sales just within my family in the last 12 months. My S8 lease runs out in 2026, and not sure I see anything from BMW to replace it.

Audi safety nannies are a nonstarter for me. No doubt RS6 is one of the best looking cars on the market though.

I’m hoping there is a way to code out the giant red car symbol that pops up in newer BMWs HUD when it thinks you’re too close to the car in front of you.

In M cars you can turn off all that stuff in M track mode or whatever it’s called. Can’t do so in Audi RS vehicles?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I couldn’t figure it out in a 2023 Q7 or a ‘24 RS8.

The RS6 is so much better looking, and probably drives better too as its much lighter (who though we would ever say that).

RS6 Performance is definitely a better buy

The new 7 and 5 were a massive disappointment for me.

My family we have 4 G30/F90 - none of us is switching to the new stuff. I don"t like the direction Mercedes or BMW is taking (funny because BMW and MB were winners here), and we are moving to other brands or just not switching cars at all.

Yes. Gorgeous car and can tell this will be the fastest car I’ve ever driven - and didn’t push it hard, it just goes. No battery driven motors to worry about and feels light on its feet. Very smooth suspension as well. Awesome car.

It can’t turn it off permanently - it automatically turns back on when you start the car. However you can set it to an rs mode so there’s that.

Had a ‘22 rs6 and the front cross traffic almost caused an accident on a simple left hand turn. After that I always double checked it was off before driving. Not the end of the world but unnecessary.

Let's wait for new gen RS avant, and compare again. RS7 avant to be precise, not yet revealed.

And still outgoing RS6 looks a better choice..

RS7 Avant test mule photos are circulating, and it looks better than G99 even in camo.

Went to take a look at a well spec’d RS6 Avant today and was pretty impressed. If I’m going to be stuck with a glass roof, I like that it opens.

Massaging seats are an option and the interior electronics looked the business.

The outside looks are subjective of course.

What’s up with the rev limiter lol

I also asked what year it was produced (2024 MY) and they didn’t have that information on hand. The rumor is that the newer 24 build year resolves the belt start generator issue. Dunno.

They wanted $50k ADM so I laughed on the way back to my car.

Saw some renders too. I'm not a fan of rear RS7 lights, but completely agree, even in camo looks superb.

And hey, at least they invested in new rear doors just for RS, not like someone )

Anything built October 2023 or later should be good to go with the starter generator. The build month and year can be found in a tag inside the door sill.

If you get massaging seats you do not get the good looking RS seats, instead you get the “normal” A6 seats.

I am not sure if this if you care, but you cannot get the ceramic brakes on the 24’s. I love not having brake dust, and they are 75 pounds less rotating unsprung mass. Plus, replacing the steel brakes is about $5k since there are not any aftermarket replacements.

Good info.
Still, $5k is cheaper than CCB replacement hats but admittedly should last a lot longer.

The sales guy mentioned about the seats but this car didn’t have them so it has the sport seats. More for the Mrs. tbh.

It didn’t have the air suspension but damn, 22” wheels all around. Massive.

As Doug Demuro described them, “cartoonish.” Next to my 20” square setup they give the true scale.

Part of that is due to the brakes. The carbon ceramics are 440mm (a little over 17.3 inches) and have 10 piston calipers. Many 21” styles of wheels will not even fit as you need clearance for the brakes. Mine is a 2022 so it has the cast “turbine-esque” 22” wheels, not the lighter forged wheels from the 2024’s. I will say though, for 22” wheels they can take a beating. I have hit some pretty big potholes and never bent one, but they are HEAVY!

Regarding the ride, I have the standard air suspension, not the sportier coil suspension. If you’re looking at an RS6 or RS7 I will say that the ride, even on the 22’s, is pretty impressive with air suspension. Unless you live somewhere with incredible, perfect roads I would skip the coils (DRC is what Audi calls the coil suspension). You will notice the improved comfort for daily use much more than the few 1/10th’s you may pick up on a track or a twisty road.
