Great pics. And got used to the looks already.

This M5 is so huge, that the front wheels look way too small.

Btw, saw video, just look at the height and proportions! 0:54 mark

This is a hard design to get used to. It looks like the Hunchback of Notre-Dame.

San Marino has some purple in it. Marina Bay is very similar but doesn’t have the purple.

There are so many lines on the car that I didn't notice on most of the prior gloss colors.

Lines on lines all pointing different directions. Some straight, some curved, none really following much of a plan. The lines don't necessarily highlight or accentuate the concave/convex contours on the panel where they should.

It is similarly chaotic to the XM. . . Can really feel the same "design" language if I can use the term loosely. The lines of a big sedan should make it sleeker, sportier, shrink it. . . With the XM you literally have the excuse of "Giant SUV go fast" or Frankenstein as noted above, but the lines (and the convex/concave panels) really stand out and clash even more with the Frozen paint. At least there is a centered roundel in the back of this car unlike that one and they didn't just paint an afterthought on the rear glass.

To me, it looks like one person started this design and then 3 others finished it - there is a conflict of some kind. I'm not here just to bring in my "ire" and be negative, I know everyone is tired of the bashing of this car. . . I'm trying to be objective instead of just saying "I don't like it."

Size-aside, I think it actually looks quite a bit better than the F90 the smushed look on the front of the F90 is gone. I'm not mad at this new car at all

I love my XM but also love the way this M5 looks. Definitely plan on getting one when the lease is up.

I think this is sort of what they were going for. If you look at the dash on the new 5er, the center speaker grill is like what you’re describing. Grill lines going in all directions, asymmetric and overlapping each other. When I first saw this it struck me as a small detail that said a lot of what they were trying to do. Makes me think modern, purposeful, and aggressive.

Last gen cars had a more symmetric, wing shaped kind of thing going on. That was more organic to me. Can see it in the dome light of the X7 and in a few other places.

Pics of both below. Kind of hard to find a good pic of the 5er’s but you can see it here if you enlarge.

This black rim epidemic is horrific. I’d like to see the F90 wheels (clean, classy yet sporty) on the G90 for a better comp.

We may never get tired of bashing the design of this car for exactly the reasons you pointed out. It’s the most non cohesive design they produced as far back as I can remember.

Too late, got to live with this for the next 7 years as a potential option if no other car in same segment meets the performance/value prop. The novelty will wear off in an year or two and we may see the sales numbers decline.
