Giving me some serious E60 vibes in that this is going to be underappreciated now and then appreciated after EOL.

That M5 looks so much fresher than the equivalent Mercedes of the era, has aged so well in my opinion especially in Silverstone. |

Looks like these M5s have found their natural habitat: a precarious perch next to the water, where they can contemplate their life choices (and their curb weights). You’ve got to admire the bravery—parking that much metal on an angled slab of concrete takes a certain level of commitment. If they start rolling, they might just create a new shipping lane. And if they decide to take a dip, at least they’ve got the power to turn those twin-turbos into propellers. Who needs boats when you’ve got 4,300-pound submarines, right? Just kidding. I’m not brave enough to make jokes about such large creatures. Would be a bit like taunting a rhino… a skinny one. |

Out of all the new BMW designs, I like the new M5 the best—and it looks great in this blue. I’m interested to test drive and read the reviews. I don’t think the curb weight is a death knell for handling.
Before my M8C, I had an i4 M50 with a ~5000 LB curb weight, and thought BMW did an excellent job at masking the weight when cornering. The low center of gravity helped a lot. And the M50 actually felt very nice driving on the highway; it would eat up bumps like nothing. I bet the M5 will have a similiar feel. If so, I’m not too worried about the weight. That being said, I’m only going to kick tires and don’t have any plans to buy this M5 because even though it’s the nicest out of the new BMWs IMO, my M8 is nicer lol. |
