G99 and interior
I looked at the m5 for the first time today and I must say that the interior quality is poor. No leather on the dash and doors.

And the wheels look like a kitchen sink drain plug.

March 25th you can order individual and get full leather. That’s what I’m waiting for.

That's the extended merino leather option, no? To get it everywhere it's the full (which, yeah, isn't available now). What is the materials there though? Is it like hard vacuum-formed plastic? or the soft-touch plastic? If it's the soft-touch I don't mind so much.

The two upcoming options are listed on the build sheet as "Merino Leather," rather than "Extended Merino Leather," so it might be less.

Looking at the build sheet for SOP 3/2025 theres only two color options for the leather and neither sounds like something i would be interested in.
I currently have full leather in my X5M and while it does look nicer there are some cons to having as well. on the lower door panels they can get scuffed if you have kids or careless passengers. Same for the front lower dash areas. I am also worried about the top of the dash leather cracking or having issues considering its constantly being blasted by the sun.

I'm with you on getting an individual color. But, the impression I had talking with my dealer was to be prepared for the G90/G99 to not have full leather/stitching on doors like M5s of past. Or even like the current G80. Further, I just looked at the pricing and ordering guides. I see two new priority 1 merino options SOP 3/25, but unless I missed something they don't cost anymore and aren't described as "full." It seems we should be prepared for the M5 interior to take a step back in luxury/quality like the new 5er and other new BMW products.

I see no reason why bmw wouldn't offer full leather in xyb color as options. It's a production delay issue. Just about every bmw/m from 3 series up in top spec has the option for extra leather and dash. Just takes time, it would make no sense to have a 120k or 140k spec car that doesn't allow folks to option that. Last edited by DocWeatherington; 10-10-2024 at 11:09 AM.. |

Those aluminum trims even makes the interior cheaper. At least they could put CF as standard.
I just figured out: With 285/40/20 front tire size , front wheels are 1.4" taller than F90 With 295/35/21 rear tire size, rear wheels are 1.2" taller than F90 That's why G90 is 1.4" taller than F90.

I doubt they'll implement the new dash ('26) after just one year of the current dash ('27). Look at the M8... they're still running the old dash, and will continue to do that next MY. It probably won't change until they move to the next platform.
