Why do people do this ?
Personal i think this is like a sad story.....
They would love to have a real ///M and the looks... and the power of it !
But they don't have the $$$$$ to buy it..thats why it's actualy sadly .

OP, to answer your question directly; people do this to impress the unwashed masses. The 99 out of 100 that do not know any better... same reason BMW is slapping M badges on anything with 4 wheels

...who gives a sh*t in the end. M = the new AMG.

It threw me off at first because it's an X3. I thought the tail lights looks funny for an X5. Then when we got close, this thing had badges all over it. The front fenders had M-power and a bunch shit I didn't know BMW made. A BMW by itself is a great car just plain and simple.

I was about to say the same thing. Have they ever made an X3M? I don't think they have.

I mean with the X3 or X5 the original owner could have run M Performance if he upgraded certain parts. Then I would buy it. But not this.

great question, I always want to ask someone why they put stuff like this on their car but don't want to really take the time or the effort/ potential altercation

So it's just like BMW putting the ///M logo on everything from the factory. What's the difference?

The difference IMO, is that... when the factory add badges to a BMW, they usually will have upgraded the suspension, seats, steering wheel, bumpers/side skirts, and upgraded with M-wheels. It's also on the sticker price as a M-package which at least adds resale value to the vehicle. Doing this to a vehicle doesn't really bother that much, because each their own. I just feel it makes the car look cheap.

The thing about this is, the only people that really give a rat's @$$ are the very ones that will never be fooled by this nonsense.
