I’ve seen the debate on here a million times over…but what are people’s thoughts on CCBs strictly due to the weight. Not a lot of people will be tracking this car unless it’s once or twice a year. Maybe a worthy investment seeing how you might eat through normal pads as a daily still.

I have CCB on my R8 and the wheels never get dirty. 1 year old and 2200 miles on my car so far and never had to wash the wheels once. You could rub the wheels with a white cotton glove and not get a speck of dust. I want CCB on every car I own from now on.

I'm not worried about stopping power but I'll add that I've owned CCBs and that is why I won't own again.

Mine squeaked badly. I couldn't get it to stop, and I had tried, (I think) every recommended potential remedy.

Apparently small chance of it happening but I just don't want to risk it. Plus I'll likely use that 8500 toward ppf.

Yes, I have CCB's on my F90 M5 and no squeaks and zero brake dust, so yes of course if I get the G90 CCB's are a must!

I had steel brakes on my F90 and they were by far the loudest, screechiest brakes on the planet. Never heard anything worse on any car, ever. It was downright embarrassing to pull up anywhere.

By contrast, the CCB on my R8 are dead silent.

I won’t go for CCBs, the cost is crazy and using the car all year round in a cold climate country I’ll have worse stopping power during 5 months before they work up some temperature which I won’t do very quickly on my daily commute.

Also a huge risk of rock chips as the roads are literally covered in gravel when it’s icy outside.

I’m not too worried about the stopping power in general, there’s no way BMW would equip their flagship with brakes that does not have enough power even when hot to stop the car.

If I order, I won't be getting the CCBs. They just aren't needed on a car that isn't going to the track. (Yes, I understand that some people like the lower dust and noise).

I'd rather spend that money on the MPE.

You think your CCBs squeak? You must not have driven or owned an f90, or f10. The CCB squeak usually goes away for the most part, but the steel options on the f90, and f10 squeal SOOOOO much worse. At least in my experience the steel brakes work fine on my f90, but the dust and squeal is horrendous. By far worse than anything with CCB i've owned.

So true. The CCB minor squeak is nothing compared to the little piggies I seem to have inside my wheel wells in my f90. They squeal like a pig being used for bacon while it's still alive.

CCBs will absolutely be a box checked on every performance car I buy in the future after my f10 and f90 steel brakes.

The ccbs I had was on my 2016m4 and did not go away. I owned both a 22m5 and 23m5c, as well, as 23m8c gc. None of those had ccbs and none ever squeaked.

The CCBs on my M5 CS squeaked too. Didn't go away.

Yes, Im not saying CCBs dont make some noise, they definitely can. The cars ive had with them it goes away once the brakes are up to temp. But the steel f90 brakes are by far the worst ive ever experienced, not even a close 2nd other than the f10.

At least with CCB the dust is a lot less issue. The squeak from CCBs I can live with but the steels dust is horrendous, and the squeal sounds like a Uhaul rental truck.

But ive also read/heard many instances where some folks steel brakes are silent. But that has definitely not been my exp.

with in the last 5-10k miles I got brand new oem rotors and pads and they were quiet for a while, but the noise has definitely returned to the same volume.

Had I not got the brakes and rotors installed for free, I definitely would not have put OEM pads back on. the dealership gave me a big middle finger when I asked, if instead of the OEM pads I could buy some aftermarket and they throw them in instead of the OEM ones. Ive tried eveything, bedding them aggressively, no bedding, slamming on the brakes 3x from 70MPH (works for the remainder of that drive usually), cleaners, compressed air to blow the dust out, caliper grease, you name it. nothing worked.

Don’t CCB last a very long time, like on the order of 50k to 75k miles before replacing, assuming “normal driving?” On the flip side, these things cost a metric ton to replace, like $5k+ per axle. Porsche 911s are double that. Insane.

I think CCBs are great if you intend to own the car long term but plan on jettisoning it before they need replacing lol.

Even for leasing it might be worth it, especially for this heavy car. You can slam on the brakes for three years and almost guarantee you won’t have to replace the brakes before turning it in, assuming you aren’t tracking it.

Yes, they last quite a while unless you're tracking the car, track and high temp, high stress braking will significantly shorten the life span, by a lot. but it's not uncommon for the CCBs to last well over 75K miles with standard everyday commute type of driving.

CCBs on my R8 cost about $35k for rotors and pads. But they should last the life of the car as long as I don't track them.

Interesting. Out of curiosity, what kind of climate do you live in?

I'm on the SC coast so it's warm and humid most of the year. My steel brakes were terrible on my F90. Maybe it's the humid air? Or salt from being near the beach??

Yeah, every time I pulled up to the security gate at my golf club in the F90 and guards knew I was there because of the screeching brakes. Didn't even have to look, they knew it was me. They would ask what the hell was wrong with my car?

San Antonio, TX. Hot and humid but nothing close to Houston or south east coast humidity.

Well I didnt have access to all the actual residual values BMW uses, but they advertise a lease special on the 2024 M3 Comp X Drive at 55%... roughly.

But I put a range because I dont know.

However, there is also shorter term leases, 12,24, 30, etc. and the residual changes with it. As does a shorter mileage allowance, so a 10K/ year vs 5K/year vs 20K/year would all change the residual.

I'd imagine a shorter term lease with lower mileage allowance could be 75%?

But since I don't know for fact, I put a range. But also meant pay 25-40% of the cost of the total upgrade cost of 8500.00 over the course of the lease.

You're correct though if referring to the standard 36 month lease 10k/yr on an M3 is 55%, and some other lower models are in the 58-62% range on 36mth/10k year lease.

Im in AZ, dry as a.... well NM, not appropriate.... but hot and dry. But it doesnt change when it's cold and dry. And I had f10 in Seattle, and it's cold and wet there, and same thing.

Climate was something I thought also, but no rhyme or reason it looks like to me.
