Watch Question - Oris Watches

Anyone have knowledge of and/or experience with Oris watches? What little research I have done says they are good watches with quality on par to Tag's.

I know there are much better pieces available but I am also trying to balance the economics of it. I stumbled on the Oris line and I do like the look but more so they offer more sizes than Tag. I have small wrists and 41MM and up watches are just too big for me. Tag is pretty limited in sizes in the Aquaracer line. Oris offers multiple sizes, 37mm and up in their Diver line. Pricing is about a wash.

Oris is a private company versus Tag is owned, I believe, by a conglomerate that includes LV among others which probably explains Tag's fairly intense marketing effort versus a lesser know Oris. Just a guess on my part.

Thoughts on Oris?

Thanks.

I've always liked the Oris Williams F1 watch, and it fits in with the BMW enthusiasm.

I have an Oris Artelier Skeleton that I'm looking to sell now. Great piece but I just don't like wearing a watch. I'll post it in the watch section. The ORIS US headquarters is in my town (weirdly so is Bell & Ross). My wife works for Breitling which is one town over. We're in a watch vortex!

I think they offer a good value and have some nice styles. Believe they only make mechanical movements as well. I have the oris 65 diver bronze and like it a lot.

Appreciate the feedback. I would like to take a look at some but finding a local dealer is proving difficult. I'm a but reluctant to purchase online for two reasons; legitimacy concerns and for a watch I just need to see it on me.

I'm in love with my Tag Carrera, but I'd definately buy an Oris if I had cash to spare and there was one I liked. Legit Swiss manufacture, well built, excellent value for money.

My father has one and he doesn't believe in the concept of "servicing", apparently. He's had it for over 15 years without having taken it in once and the damn thing is still going strong, no problems whatsoever. I would imagine with proper care and maintenance it should last a lifetime.

My Oris's, Orii, Oris'..., whatever the plural of Oris is..., are some of my favorites.

You can always go grey market but I prefer authorized dealers and negotiate 20-25% off so that I can keep the warranty. YMMV

This is an authorized online retailer in the USA. I prefer authorized dealers (AD), but there's nothing wrong with grey market, just recognize you won't get the manufacturer warranty. Most grey market sellers offer their own warranty.

You can call/email them and get better pricing than what's shown on the website. They're also the only authorized Oris service center in the USA.

ETA, I had to correct, they aren't the only authorized ONLINE dealer anymore, but they're still the US service center.

I have several watches in my collection, TAG, Breitling, Omega, Tissot, Bulova and an Oris Aquis....which I bought on a lunch break one day. Its one of the most reasonable watches (money wise) I have bought and feels better made that some of the others I have. When I buy another, it will be an Oris for sure. Been considering another for a while now.

What about a company called "Jomashop"? Legitimate? Seems legit but you never know.

Yes they are - i’ve personally have purchased a handful of watches from them . fYI, when you purchase from them you don’t get factory warranty but you do get “Jomashop warranty” ...never had to use it so can’t attest to that

(apologize for the hijack) do you know why no factory warranty through joma? I just received a watch from them this afternoon and there was a joma warranty card, but no factory card or papers as typical. I was about to send them an email and came across this thread. PM if you dont mind, to prevent further hijacking. ty

They're a legit grey market dealer.

Because they are not an authorized dealer. Joma is trustworthy, but they are grey market. There's no telling how long the watches they sell have been sitting around. I know one person that bought a watch from them that had been sitting around so long, that the lubricants evaporated and it wouldn't run right. Joma took care of them, but that's the risk of a grey market watch. Again, though, Joma is trustworthy, but factory warranty is something you can't get from them.

Great input from everyone and helpful but the comment above is kinda scary. I know you said they took care of it, I assume they replaced the watch? Is this an exception or norm from grey market?

Plus grey market is looking like my only choice. I cannot find a dealer in Tampa anywhere.

Can't say enough good things about my Oris. Especially at the price point, it definitely is a strong contender!

I'd say it's an exception. Just one anecdote. Joma serviced the watch for him. He's not had trouble since.
