Dash Camera

Hey guys,

I am really considering installing a dash camera that can record non-stop all the action when I am driving. The other day, I had an idiot with a big truck cutting in front of me, pushing me to brake hard. When I flashed him he showed me the finger and such...
I think it is time to have a camera in my car so I can have a proof in any case, it seems that more and more bad drivers are roaming the roads.

please share with me what kind of cameras you have (if you have) and why you choose that particular one.
I want something really small but reliable.

Also, I would like to know how you guys connected the camera, I wouldn't like to have a wire coming from cigarette lighter going over the dash-bord; I am most thinking to install it on the top, eventually grab the power from the inside rear view mirror if possible.

Thanks.

I doubt a camera in Canada would hold up for much in court.

Well there was an incident that happened on the 401 and the camera actually helped the guy who had it, he was victim of fraud and he got everything on camera. Your insurance will want the proof lol

I'm thinking about getting one as well. Didn't realize they were so inexpensive.

I've been using a dash cam for several years now and love it. Here's the one I've been using:

http://www.amazon.com/BlackVue-DR400.../dp/B009K5D9V8

Blackvue has newer models since I bought mine but I don't know their added features. I've always wondered why car manufacturers didn't have a dash cam as an option in their vehicles!

I have mine placed behind my rear view mirror so it doesn't obscure my outward vision while driving at all. I have it plugged into my cigarette lighter outlet but some connect it to their fuse box instead. The wire is barely noticeable since I pushed the black wire into the headline and dash trim all the way to the lighter outlet. The provided wire is very long.

Basically, it constantly records while driving - I don't have to turn it on or off or do anything. The one negative about this model is that it takes about 30 seconds for it to boot up and begin recording once I start my ignition. It uses a micro SD memory card and just overwrites the oldest files when recording. I can review the footage on my computer where it shows my GPS location, time, date, and my speed.

Look up "why I use a dash cam" on Youtube and you'll find dozens of videos.

Mobius is about as small and simple as you can get. I just got it and while I've not installed it as a dedicated dash cam it would be simple as pie to do.

The cam plus an 8 or 16g card would be < $100 and installed would be practically unnoticable. You just set it to loop record and start recording with power and you're done.

Here's a thread I started about using it for Euro delivery: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1011576
