The show is all about the short guy kissing up to celebs and athletes and then overcharging them for ugly wheels and stupid speaker boxes. That is the show in one sentence.

As I said 1st time checking it out, I suppose the celebs get what they pay for. And it's their loot so who am I to judge

That guy ripps off his clients so bad its not even funny. I almost pissed my pants when he gave a "normal" kid a quote to work on his 350z. For rims/tires, a system consisting of 2 JL 10's and a JL amp, marble trim, and some other BS it was $20k.
I give the guy credit for finding a niche in the market with his celebrity clients, but I haven't liked one thing that has come out of his shop. I guess i'm more into the performance end of things, while still having a clean looking modding car, instead of the Bling Blang y0 with the 26" rims, and as much weight and ugly ass chrome as you can slap onto a car.

I saw the same episode your speaking of. He was basically hating on the kid for having the audacity to think his car could be labeled as a 'unique' whip so he quoted him that ridiculous price to get out of having to do the job (which in a sense is stupid but it's his business so whatever) As for the whips they've completed from what I've seen it's been about a 40/60 split from what I like/don't like. I know athletes/celebs are crazy and have money to waste but besides their audio installation and the 1 one in a million upholstery work there's nothing special they do that the avg. person couldn't pick out on their own or find a good shop in their backyard (rims, tints). Other than that I do kinda find it mildly entertaining if I stumble on a marathon but it's not a show I would prog. my tivo for. |

i see their work is pure junk. yea their paint schemes and audio/video setups are cool but overall the rides they build are total junk and this guy castro is making millions from just chrome rims and a nice speaker box in the trunk along with the leather craftsmen.
i see the custom shops now days not pleasing. everyone from unique to west coast customs to even some of wicked rides are unpleasing to me. in the future when i open up my shop my theory will always be the same with cars. to keep heritige and function over bling. you will never see chrome rims and wacked out paint jobs from my shop lol. that is what will set me apart from other shops. question is will people understand this concept or will they just get the chrome and bling factor instead. |

^There are different motives for opening shops. I know people who own shops where they install performance parts all day. Anything from rebuilding an engine, to adding a supercharger and turbo kit. Also corner balancing and tuning on the dyno. Yet they are not living lavishly because of the crowd they cater to. They do it because it's their passion, sometimes working for 15-20 hours a day when business is tight.
Compare these performance shops to the shops with high end clients.. They charge the clients say, $10,000 for a set of wheels, which is nothing for their 6 figure car. Clearly these guys are going to eat a lot healthier. |

haha yup, I've seen it many many times and thats pretty much EXACTLY all it is. Bunch of chrome giovanna or giovanni rims or what the hell ever it is, and custom speaker boxes.

His work does not appeal to me but I'm not knocking the guy for finding a niche in the market. So what if he overcharges his clients, if they continue to pay, seems to be a damn smart move if you ask me.

most of the cars look identical in terms of audio/video and ugly ass rims. I felt bad for the kid with the z as Castro thought he should shit on him because he thought his car could compare to the celebrities. However, the only cool part of the show is 50's rides. His black murci is sooo sexy...which he gets pulled over in and arrested..

the guy worked his way to the top with the help of some rappers (Busta) money from what I hear. I really dont like the way he treats his workers. My buddy had delivered a set of Lowenharts a couple of years ago to his shop and it took them over a year to get paid....
