How to file a patent?

Any recommendations/advice? Anyone here a patent attorney?

I have very limited knowedge, but when I was looking at a patent (admittedly gave up on it due to the complexity) I met with a company called Eventys (maybe spelled wrong). Companies like that can help with the manufacturing and marketing. From them I was told to: 1. Get a patent lawyer, and 2. Search Google Patent for any other product like I was looking at getting a patent for. Not much but hope it helps.

Thank you for the reply! I was able to consult with a guy who did patents for about 20 years and he gave some great advice. I'm going to follow his suggestions and see where it goes.
