You know you're getting old when...

Here's a thread for those of us seeing the retirement light at the end of the tunnel (and for you young punks to take a free shot at us geezers).

I was looking at GQ and Pinterest and a few other sites about "in style" fashion do's and don'ts for the office. I had to laugh at some of the models wearing jackets that seem two sizes too small, flood pants, no socks, and horrifying color combos. Is that what people really wear to the office? I work in a university, so you can safely assume old school suits among the administration and khakis (gasp!) among the faculty. I was looking for some examples of sportcoat/pants/shirt/tie combos that go well together, but I guess the new rules say you can close your eyes and grab anything you want. It's all good.

I must be getting old.

A friend called me yesterday, wanted to know if I'd go out with a group of friends. "Nah, I'm gonna go to bed early."

Hell froze over.

This is us on vacation. Nightlife on vaca is out of the question. We do so much during the day that we're beat at night. Couple hours of web stuff for Wifey or processing the day's pics for me and we're done. Asleep by 11.

That's not even as annoying as waking up after five and not being able to sleep again. This really sucks after dinner time

I was talking about army days with friends from home a few days ago. They had the pics of me too from those days, and my first thought was damn i'm hot, then I remembered time passing by, and it was "Damn, I was hot", then came the wait...

I have a 19 year old kid here who translates me tool shit, and apparently also helps me install shit to my car, since the words "Wait a minute, this is not how it used to be done" came to my mind too often. I'm 32, going on 70.

LOL.

Getting old is all I want in my life. I've had all the good stages in between, now I just want to be happy as always. Getting older is giving up on somethings, but also getting wise enough not to need them anymore. I've had kids, so body will never be the same, I've been through the doubt my son is not going to be a kid, but more of a veggie, I've buried the one man who loved me with all my faults (dad) and I've seen myself through it all.

Being old, it's not age, it is being wise enough to understand that the things we've seen alters us. It's also the feeling of completely giving up on expectations, and just being so damn happy.

Do as I did, get yourself a midlife crises early, and just see what you are made of.

I'm too beautiful to grow old. Where's Peter Pan when you need him.

In response to your first thing. I don't know why the whole flood pants / too small shirts thing is the "look". Buy fitting clothes, fucking hipsters. I can't stand fads. "Oh, I'm just being me, expressing myself", whatever douche, you're being like every other wanker out there.

Did anybody else know that people are wearing glasses...., WITH NO LENS?! Seriously? What in the fuck? Just the frame?

I'm not even old and I don't understand.

I had a gorgeous 25-year-old girl at the office tell me I was getting old. Without trying to burst her bubble I simply said, it’s all relative. My 15-year-old son has a teacher your age. Remember how old you thought your teachers were when you were in High School? Well, to a 15 year old, you’re now the old teacher. She wasn’t too happy about that.

When you're out with coworkers at happy hour and you find out some of them were born in the 90s. Seriously... the 90s??

I get this all the time when I talk about my military time in the 70's and 80's. None of them were even around then. They see 80's music as oldies, whereas I think 50's and 60's when I hear oldies.

I can pretty much name any singer from their distinctive sound 70-late 90s. These days I can recognize a song, but usually get the artist wrong. Hell, sometimes I'm not even close on the gender.

I drove to Baltimore yesterday a funeral. I had a new Zegna suit on that I had just picked up from the tailor and regular Aldo wingtips shoes on(last minute). Then I saw an older man with the same looking outfit on and same shoes.
