Saw the 1 series in person - not impressed

Silicon Valley car show opened today so I went and spent 2 hours at lunch time. There was an orange 128 inside a roped-off area. I have to say I did not like the look of it. Fat and truncated to me. I am not impressed at all. My previous plan to get one went bye bye...

The other cars of note were
Nissan GT-R - nice
Lexus is-F - sux
R8 - not THAT great
EVO MR - small, OK looking
WRX STi - borderline fudgly
Bullit - waste of money

No showing from Porsche.
How can Infiniti keep saying they compete with BMW? I spent a long time in a G37S and found the interior absolutely tasteless. What is up with the pimp purple backlit instrumentation?

Only thing I like was the GT-R.

lol, well everyone has their opinions and you're definitely allowed to have them.

ME

Nissan GT-R - nice
Lexus IS-F- No idea
R8 - Pure sex
EVO MR - No idea
WRX STI - My neighbor has a blue one. In pics it looks terrible, but after walking around it, it looks sweet!
Bullitt - Its another Mustang

Cool

I actually sat inside of a 1 series and I guess I must be too big for it at 6'1 200 pounds. I felt squished inside of it. The 3 and 5 series are much more accomodating.

I saw the G37S in person today, and I did not like the looks. Ugly! Especially the rear end.

The previous G35 looked much better

I feel like the 1 series just looks like a smaller version of the previous 3 series coupe. And for an extra few grand you can have the 3

The 1 Series looks like a car that 20 circus midgets are going to hop out of when it stops.

hahaha, you're right! It's just the proportions, they're too "calculated". It looks as if BMW were determined to fit a car into those dimensions and did so.

Im curious if half you people making comments like this or how ugly you think it is, have actually seen the car in person. I will say in person it looks really sporty and not awkward at all. I know the guy who started the thread saw it in person and is not impressed, which is the best way to make a decision on a car.

I thought the exact opposite. Didn't really care for pictures, then saw at the auto show this weekend and thought it looked pretty nice.

Yep I seen it in person a good few times, that's why I commented. I agree with you that cars look better in real life than pics, but in the case of the 1 Coupe I'm not a fan. I stand by my comments.
