Just backed off on a deal last second, dont know what to think/feel

Been talking to my dealer/salesman for months to lease a car (21yo so i want to rent for now)

been getting hyped up for the 235 and the M4, the M4 was sold literally the same day I got there right in front of me, so I settled with the 235 as it had all my options.

Needless to say, wasted time, said I wanna get it, went in there, signed paperwork, put $7K cash, 2 hours after closing time btw, and ultimately ended up wasting everyones time, pissing them off, and walked out.

Idk what happened. i sort of got frightened and scared for some reason. despite money not at all having been an issue, something in me suddenly made me not get it.

i dont know what it was though. i feel sort of cowardly now. dont know if it was a inner voice saying wait 1-2 months and get an M4, or just forget BMW and wait around 1 year, 1 1/2 year and just outright buy a Lamborghini/Ferrari and a house to boot. Already living with parents and drive a hand me down Jetta, and really loved both the 235 and the M4, idk what happened but something held me back

has anyone ever felt this way before?

oh and, I do make some decent money so I ended up waiting anyway because i felt like if I wait, my first car is gonna be better, on the other hand my dealer was saying if ur first car is the top car, then what car will you have next to look forward too? I had mixed feelings about the commitment despite having no mixed feelings about the getting the cars (or price for that matter) themselves.

If you want the car bro get it.. You only live once, if you have the funds and the means do it. If you can afford the car, save some coin, buy a house do it.

Its just a car... If you want the M4 or M2 do it.. As long as you can afford it, have money to live and enjoy life. Just make a sound decision.

Warm BMW wishes

This doesn't make any sense. 21 years old and nervous about spending ~$20k, but in a year you'll have hundreds of thousands for a Ferrari and a house?

Ditto.

If the OP has enough cash for a Ferrarri and a house in 12 - 18 months.

Then just buy an M4 now and in 12 months time get a Ferrarri.

Or just say bugger it and get a veyron.

Or why not a Porsche now or even two.

Buy a car because *you* want to drive it. Not because it makes a statement or suggests something about who you are. I have two cars my M6 and my Dodge Caravan. Each serves a purposes in my life and I enjoy each of the cars for differing reasons.

But I don't drive one or the other to define myself.

Order an M4 with all the bells and whistles and wait for two months to get what you want; for you are buying it for the long run, not that it might or might not get you laid.

Buy it to be your daily driver....that is what it is there for and how you should consider it to be in your life. Once you view it that way, you will pull the trigger and buy it sans hesitation.

IMHO

Porches are not for me

That was my plan but I suddenly backed off. I blame the dealer for pressuring me to buy a 235 as it came in and not even considering to get me in the M4 like I am asking

True. I want the M235 or M4 for these reasons.

I suppose I backed off because I didn't feel I was forced. I drive a free car and live rent free, so I was afraid of being responsible for the first time in my life lol, same with moving out for me. Still hesitating despite the fact I really need to get a house for myself and can afford to do so.

How come Porsches are not for you?

They decimate BMW, a 2 series or a Porsche? Oh hard decision...

Sorry at 21, you are too young to have devoloped enough experience to really know a car. You really need to live with one for upto a year, borrowing or test drives are bugger all.

With the money you are bandying about, they are plenty cars miles better than a poxy 2 series.

Honestly, I do not like or care for Porsches that much. Same with Mercedes. Was considering C63s but am not. The only Mercedes I would get is the AMG GT or the G63 AMG.

Please list these options. For me, my dream car has always been a Ferrari Cali, a Gallardo Spyder, and now recently the Huracan as well. Of course my all time ultimate car is the Aventador Roadster but that can take some time lol.

I can see myself having a Ferrari Cali or 13/14 Gallardo Spyder easy in about a year if things go right

For now, I can be very content in an M4, even a 235, but I wouldn't drive a Porsche. I like the way the M4 way more than any Porsche unless you gave me a 911 Turbo or Turbo S

I'm more concerned with the $7k down for lease than your decision to buy or not.

Save some money.... take the bus.

It's because you realize your trust fund needs to go towards a yacht with a helipad on it.

It's your calling.
