Where can I actually drive my BMW in the U.S. at 80mph+ LEGALLY? Anywhere?

I've got a new 335 on the way and I've already planned on installing radar detection and laser jamming in my car. But I want to know if there's anywhere in this country (or maybe Canada, if not too far north) where I can actually drive this car for what it was made for. The highest posted speed limit in the U.S. is on a remote strip of Texas highway, at 80mph. Even that's pathetically low.

I don't know where else to go to legally drive any faster. Are there private racetracks for NORMAL people like me who don't have a "race" car but just want to enjoy the engines we've paid for?

Even though I already often enough hit triple-digit speeds, I'm still curious where I can do it LEGALLY. Thanks guys.

I'm right with ya. You need to find a local Auto Cross circuit. There's a section dedicated to tracking and whatnot. Maybe someone can help you there. You could also check the regional section and see if anyone near you has a solution. Right now I just use deserted parts of the highway at 1AM. I also have a public camping ground that's HUGE and deserted at anytime past 5:30.

I'm gonna go let off some steam at the 2-day M School at Spartanburg coming this Spring! I have a few options like Daytona and Sebring, but they're both at least 3 hour drives unfortunately.

O. Turnpike. Go eastbound beyond Cuyahoga river. You can see a fair distance for any troopers. It goes uphill passed the bridge, but the car has no problems pegging the limiter on it. Be sure to slow down before cresting the hill.

Not that I've tried this more than 30 times or so...

Its 85 mph in sections of hiway in Georgia.

We all do triple digits now and then right? Even in stupid states like VA where there is mandatory jail for anything over 90. Go figure! Just don't get caught.

naw...anything over 80mph is a "reckless" driving and calls for automatic jail time unless you buy a expensive ass lawyer. I paid $500 AND stayed a night at the detention center... VA sucks major oh and Fairfax county is the worst county to be driving your car in. too many cops...asshole cops

That's good for seeing troopers parked in the middle but not on coming troopers.....carefull. Must use radar detector.

Come to Iowa, everyone does at least 80 on the highway and the cops don't really care unless you are doing over 10 over... when they are around. I usually go 80-100 to work every morning (30 minutes each way every day of the week)
