Your worst experience with friends, acquaintances, or family members
Going off of the car experience thread. I'll start.
Had a buddy I've known for a long time. Been helping him get a job at the company where I work for the last 2 years. Got him 2-3 interviews and he either blew them all or made mistakes somewhere as to not get hired. Even stayed out late helping him prep for them. The guy used to be all buddy buddy with me. Always asking if I'm going to such events or parties and that he'll only go if I go. So after a few years and interviews I told him to ask another friend of ours to help because I want to give other people a chance too. I have other friends that asked me but I only focused my effort on helping him. So he got butt hurt, said I'm not a good friend, stopped being all buddy buddy with me and is now acting so close with the other guy. Lol. Been 5-6 months and I don't care. Haven't talked to him since. |

Oh yeah, for sure. I'm not tripping about it. I created this thread based off of the car experiences thread to hear some stories from you guys while I wait for Game of Thrones to come on. Hehe

Same thing happened to me with a best friend of mine. His little brother just finished school and my best friend asked if I could try and hook him up with a job. I reluctantly said okay as I had the connection, but am pretty selective on who I recommend. I worked with the little brother, mock interviews, prep work etc. Day of the interview he shows up 45 minutes late, and proceeds to answer his cell phone during the interview! Entitled little Shit! I was horrified with the feedback from the hiring manager that I took him out for a drink to apologize for wasting his time. Never again. I told my best friend what his brother had done and he kinda brushed it off like boys will be boys. I got pretty annoyed at that and told him that it hurts my reputation by recommending such a douchebag and that I won't do it again. Now I only recommend people that work for me. No family or friends.

That's very bad. Same here, anytime someone asks for my help, i have to do a quick character check before i recommend them. You don't want your reputation fked over by someone else

Long story short, I had a good friend of mine stop speaking to me and drop me as a friend recently because I'm still friends with and frequently hangout with his ex. It was a bad breakup, and after awhile he finally told me that I had to choose between the two of them.
To be fair, it looks really bad on my part, but 99% of people don't know the full story, and there's a LOT more to it than that. |

Last year, I gave one of my bff's two months notice of my baby shower so she had ample time to take off work and plan to be in attendance. I even sent out an invite (even though we live on the exact same street, 5 houses down.) Fast forward to May 2014. She didn't show up. Didn't even call or text me until the next day. I was so hurt by her actions, I do not answer her calls/texts. We haven't spoken in over a year. I no longer wave to her when I see her outside cutting grass as I drive by. Thank goodness for 5% tint.

I remember I got one of my good buddies a job at the CNC shop I worked at, since he got me my job before that at the auto repair shop. He ended up just not showing up at all one day, so I called him out and didn't hear from him for a while. He ended up going back to work at the other auto repair shop. No call no show? WTF dude.
After that, I had asked him to drop some money off to my sister since I was just starting my new job, I didn't have much flexibility. He ended up just keeping the money and never heard from him. Thankfully it wasn't much, but still..., what in the fuck? Not exactly the worst, because I just laughed it off, but you call someone your friend, then go on and stab them in the back not once, but twice? |

I had a female friend in my twenties. Her boyfriend left her and we had a lovely summer being single together. I wasn't looking for a guy and she was afraid to be alone and in a few months she got it into her head that I was keeping all the males for me and she couldn't find one because of me.
It was hilarious in a way, since I truly was not even remotely interested with anything with a penis, and I shot men down straight away but she truly hated me and our lifelong friendship died. Now she is going through a battle for her life and I keep reading the updates but I'm too much of a coward to contact her. What I've become and where she is now are places that have nothing in common. It still would feel good to let her know she means the world to me and that I truly am sorry for everything.

I tried reaching out to him asking him what was up and how he was doing, but never got a single response back, after HE was the one who was being a dick, he was still a friend to me. Guess he doesn't feel the same, which is a shame, but that's just how some people are. |

I know Billup. I know.
Besides, what could I say to make it all good? I see the time differently as she did, and now she is trying to survive a disease that has killed all my loved family members. I know better than to contact her since all she would see, and I would know is that I did it for me, to say goodbye. Life sucks but it also moves on, you are a solid proof ot that.

6moths later her options in life were pretty much taken away and I know in my heart I wouldn't be contacting her for her, but for me. I don't deserve the goodbyes.

Those are the kind of people you reach out to, I've learned. The people that don't want to give you the time of day, even for a quick update on how life is, there's no reason to tread down those roads, even if they have something bad going on. That's life and it's going to happen to everyone, the difference are the people who care BEFORE those things happen. |
