Driving = Stress Relief

Does anyone else like to drive around when stressed out? I'm in the restaurant business and it can be a pain sometimes but for some reason driving helps me relax.

The best part of my day is when I drive home from work cruising and not think about anything. Just sitting in my car makes me forget about everything else lol

Absolutely! When the wife and kids have gone to bed, and if I'm stressed out, I'll sometimes go for a 30 minute drive. Nice to just cruise around and go where you want.

Also, driving to work or back, if I'm not in a rush I'll change to the more scenic and twisty routes, put the roof down and enjoy the peace. Usually with no music.

Just the opposite for me..........always get stuck behind some minivan or landscaper or a texting moron doing 25mph, getting to the point that I don't want to drive anymore

The drives are only enjoyable if I can get out of the city. Lots of nice roads in the country where you can just decompress and enjoy the drive/scenery.

Agreed 100%

When I was stationed in NC and Germany and then TX, I loved driving... but I didn't have cars then that were built for performance.

Now I'm back in NY, with a great car, I'm stuck going 15-20 MPH on wide 3 lane high ways... driving ain't so fun.

When I lived in Crystal City, I'd jump on the GW parkway, right in your backyard and head North, then take the back roads to Great Falls park. It was a nice drive.
I absolutely hated Leesburg pike.

Driving is my drug, period. I enjoy my drive to work (thank GOD i like my job, otherwise what's the point) but I love the ride home even better. Sometimes I'll cruise around Miami at 2AM when my son and wife are sleeping on a Friday/Saturday so I can better appreciate the city with less idiots on the road.

Yeah Georgetown Pike around GF Park is a fun drive if there's no one in front of you.

Leesburg Pike is still hell.

This.

I go for a drive to clear my mind, quite often, sometimes for hundreds of miles. Been doing this for my entire adult life.

Even a short night drive around the city when no one is out can be like therapy for the cost of gasoline.

My motorcycle serves the same purpose.

Love driving and riding.

I live an hour away from work for this sole reason. In the morning, it clears my head before I walk into a room full of problems. In the evening, it clears my head before I spend time with someone that likes to start a lot of problems.

Yes, same here. I'm an early riser and would often take the "long way" to the gym, which involves taking 2 fwy on ramps (but after warming it up for several miles, of course). It is also nice going home from work knowing that the M car is waiting for you!!

Nice idea but two problems around here, traffic is arguably the worst ion north america and there isn't a good road for a million miles. They are all dead straight, grid format. Characterless.

Yes, I feel better when I drive (although not when stuck in traffic). And any time I get to have my roof down, is even better! Always puts a smile on my face!

Yes, I feel my cars have always been therapeutic.

It's similar to having a motorcycle.

Definitely helps. After a long day and a shower I tend to hop in the car for 30 mins and just let the music play and let the car rip. The hardest part is determining whether or not I want to hear my exhaust or my music. #firstworldproblems

I do this.

Most days I need the miles to clear my head but it is even worse if something bothers me. I find myself from the middle of some field road, 800 miles away from home, with a new clarity and perspective and then I drive back.

Definitely therapeutic.. I went for a drive last night on some backroads. Just me and the car, no music.

I call BS on this. You drive 1600 miles in one day
