MotorTrend- AMG GTS vs. 911 Turbo S vs. GT-R 45th

And the Winner is......

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/..._r_comparison/

Can only think about how the number #2 and number #3 will respond to the winner

Not surprising, the GT-R has been losing out more frequently as better chassis are put out there. With an equal amount of R&D/investment, you can get a better handling chassis than porsche's rear biased car, the only thing is that they put a LOT of investment and time/effort into making that layout work. Not a fan of the GT body work particularly, but I am a fan of progress!

No skin in the game here, but it does seem like typical MT fashion to come out with an upset like this. Saying a car is "too good" is scraping the barrel IMO

Weird, every review I've read has put the turbo, turbo S and GTS ahead of the GT and GTS. Seems weird to call the turbo S the perfect car, which I can't argue with, and then not have it win. It was fastest in straights, fastest on track, brakes were best, figure 8 the best, just seemed like the word best couldn't be used more.
AMG GT is a fine car, but it's no 911. Good effort though.

Yeah. When I read that part, I was asking myself wtf? If the Porsche was 10/10 and AMG GT is a 9/10, in what world is 9>10? No surprise as Lieberman was totally gushing over the AMG GT when he reviewed it and in the most annoying way. But it is what it is. The AMG GT is a good car but when you're in this segment, the Porsche almost always gets everything right and this is no exception.

It makes me wonder what the .2 will bring to the 911 in a few months... My money would be spent on the 911

In every measurable way, the Porsche is better.. but measurements aren't enough, sometimes.

Haven't driven the new Benz but I can see what they are saying about the turbo. It is an amazing machine but it is such an easy car to drive and does everything so well makes it not that involved which lessons the Enjoyment you get from it .

You'd hope these manufactures could finally start ripping off wins against a platform that aside from inlets, bigger brakes, and some minor changes has pretty much remained the same since 2008

I drove the AMG GT-S (about 20 hot laps at COTA) during the AMG Driving Experience.

My god dude that was one of the best days of my life. The transmission in that thing is outrageously good, maybe even better than my DCT in the M3. To think that the new C63 has the same exact motor has got me thinking about getting into a C63 for my next car...

I can't make comparisons vs the 911 since I have never driven the turbo s, but I did have for a week a 2014 Black Edition GT-R last year. Performance figures might be the same, but I'm telling you, the sense you get romping around in a GT-S is erection inducing to the 10th degree.

Different transmissions though. W205 C63 still uses same transmission as W204 facelift C63(MCT Transmission)
