Corvette Z06
Passed a new Z06 today on the freeway to work. Personally, I have never been much of a corvette fan but these new ones are absolutely gorgeous. I really like the new design. The only problem I have is that you almost never see anyone younger than 65 driving a corvette. I am in my early forties and would have a hard time buying one right now. I still think of a corvette as an old mans car. Is that wrong? Are younger guys buying and driving the new corvette?

Its simple, most 20,30s demographic cannot afford 85k car. and they dont offer crazy lease deals on z06. Just like porsche, merc. Yea you might run into couple rich youngsters drive em, but most new 911s and amgs are driven by bald headed folks.

I am in my 20s and i have friends my age who drive c7 corvettes (not Z06). People love the car both men and women. Its also pretty cool when you see a younger guy in a corvette because its not common .
I can see people labeling others who are older for the mid life crisis car. I never understand why so many old guys buy corvettes. IMO its a fast, flashy sports car that a lot younger guys would love to drive. I am not even close to being 40, so i cant really tell how you feel. all i know is that i saw a blacked out Z06 on the road yesterday and that thing was SEXY! |

If I was in the market I would definitely buy a corvette. Bang for your buck it is hard to beat. However, its just weird that you never see (at least I don't) young guys driving one. I see guys my age driving Porsches, Audi R8's, Lambos which are certainly more expensive cars. Just an observation.

I have that same association. I'm sure the marketers at Corvette will work in it. Cadillac used to be an old mans car exclusively. I think they've improved that somewhat.

the problem with Z06 is that there are to many base models around. the Z06 production numbers are not THAT big. Key to buying vettes is buy them first year when they are still cool. haha I know you will disagree my next statement. I also think the same for the M3. To many base 3 and 4 series running around to make the F80/2 really be rarer style of a car. Plus most just see another BMW, just like another corvette. |

I owned a C7 and am WAY under 65
Awesome cars but one issue for a lot of people 30-45 is only two seats. So, unless it is a fun only car, it an be tough with kiddies. A car like an M4 has a back seat (911's too). I think that is one reason why older folks (empty nesters) own them... they wanted to all of their lives but family (and finances) only allowed it a bit later.

No, I agree with you. The m3 looks very similar to any other BMW car on the road.

The trunk area is huge and as practical as the M4 but just not as deep.

Actually, for a short drive at the beach, mine was a 5 seater. One on the arm rest, two girls in the hatch (still alive, during and after). Last edited by Who's on first; 07-28-2015 at 07:23 PM.. |

I have a buddy at work has a new C7 (not a Z06) who is in his 20s and I am as well. I love the car and if I didn't get my M4 I would have bought a C7. It's just not practical for me as a daily. I honestly don't really care what other people think. If you love the car then by all means buy it!!! The Corvette community is really awesome.
